This year before the carnage begins is there anything that I can do to help reduce the number ? I'm tired of working hard on growing a buffet for them. Thanks for any advice you can give.
This stuff works great on them.... and is cheap if bought in concentrate form. Mix 3oz to one gallon of water. Amazon has it among many other stores.... About $30.00 for 32 oz of concentrate.
It's supposed to arrive on the 11th!! Any additional tricks you'd like to share ? Do I do a pretreatment or wait till I see them? Thanks again for your help with this.
A lawn treatment with some type of granules will kill the little grub bastiges before they become adults. Sevin granules are labeled for them but as with any insecticide, READ THE LABEL!
Milky spore before next spring read and follow the label it kills the grubs by giving them an infection it takes time to fully control things.
This stuff is the bomb for killing most insects/bugs. Same stuff used to spray/soak your clothes for repelling/killing ticks. I use it around the outside and inside of my place. Maybe every couple to three weeks if the bugs are bad. The pros use it for a lot of stuff including termites. I use it for everything. When I spray the bushes or flowers that have Japanese beetles, I usually wait until I have them (read lazy) and add maybe a tablespoon of liquid soap like Palmolive or dawn to help it stick to the leaves. Mist the top and bottom of the leaves. It kills them so quick they drop when your spraying. Lasts for a couple weeks maybe three. It won't take much, a gallon will last a long time if your just doing a few bushes. That quart of concentrate makes 10 gallons and this stuff is super effective. I had carpenter bees drilling into my shed and my normal bug juices didn't touch them. A little of this and they drop almost immediately. Kills all kinds of ants too. If you have a fly in the house a quick spray drops it. Supposedly pretty non toxic compared to other chemicals.
Just be aware that permethrin is toxic to cats. Dogs are good with it (it is used in many flea/tick bath)
This stuff is undoubtedly the best general insecticide i have ever used ! If we ever meet i owe you big time. The Japanese bastages are all over the place but NOTHING is happening to my shrubs! I did perimeter of my home and my shop and everything is gone. Wasps, ants, earwigs ect. gone. Also it seems to be one of the safer alternatives. Again my deepest thanks to you.
Not a cat guy I take it. Many years ago our neighborhood was infested with cats. I bought a have a heart trap and a can of sardines. First night I set the trap and walk around the corner and I hear the trap. Got one. I worked an hour from home so every morning I put the trap in the truck and let it go at work. About a month later we had squirrels and birds again. The industrial park became infested with cats.
