Itching to go out to the shop and finish up a few wood projects....but I think it's still too early to fire up the planer. And without that one board that needs planed, I'm kinda at a standstill. I guess I'll just sit here and let this coffee soak in for a while, but at 8:00 I'm making chips.

Was able to get the mowing done yesterday before it rained. I've been cutting the grass higher this year and the advice from the lawn guys here has been right on. Grass is much healthier longer. And, I'm not sharpening the blades as much on all of the Maine rocks... :emb::whistle:

The lawns here are just beginning to burn. I started to cut the grass higher last week too and that may help a bit. If the dogs don't kill it first, the weather will.

I haven't mowed my lawn in a bit, next non sticky day I'll get to it. I also lucked out this year and didn't get involved in making strawberry/rhubarb jam in the middle of a heat wave. We did pick strawberries on Monday (also laundry day this week) and make jam, we were done by 2:00 PM. I managed to get the A/C unit in the window first thing on Tuesday morning, I was wondering how that exercise would go as it is really an inside/outside 2 person job, my arm appears to have the strength these day but the wrist flexibility still isn't 100% yet.

The wrist was complaining yesterday so it was an Aleve day and I didn't even go down to the mail box because of the heat and humidity, stayed in a cooler and dryer house.

I like mowing. After I bought my first rider, about 20 years ago, I realized it was relaxing. And you see immediate progress. Good feeling. They have nice riders for all kinds and size of lawns from small to large. Eventually I'm going to have to move up to a larger cut. Right now I'm at a 50" deck, but to cut down on length of time between two properties and all that grass, I'll eventually go to a 60 or 61" deck.

Hey Gas. If you're mowing large areas like we did years ago, here's one way to add to what you have now... cut 2x as much... and not have to have it on when you don't need the extra width.

I enjoy mowing too. I wear a 4" wide back belt snugged up, and it helps a lot with the jarring ride. Here's that link. Check out the photo of the unit being pulled offset. You might be able to find a used one too.

I'm using a 50" zero turn right now. Came with the purchase of the camp and land. It is so much faster than my Simplicity, which is a nice 46" rider, that I don't even use it anymore. Nice to have two machines though. I had a deck problem last year that took the Zero turn out for a few days. So I used the Simplicity to do it. Don't know if I should trade them both in on one nice bigger deck machine or not. Nice thing is the two I have now are paid for. Best kind to have.:D

    Stinny,

I have seen those pull behind mowers, nice. But not cheap.

So being the good neighbor I am I loaned the mower to the next door neighbor who promptly broke it. They hit something bent the deck and took a huge chunk out of the blade. I had to take the tip back half an inch to level the blade out then straiten the deck again. Tonight they want to borrow the mower again! I tell them no more loaning the mower and they get mad at me for not letting them use the mower I put a new motor on last year! Out of our income. What the heck.

They break it, you fix it. You say no and the Christmas cards stop coming.I'd be ok with that.
