1/4" of rain in the last 3 weeks. Mowed last Saturday but is so dry don't have to mow this weekend - even the weeds are crumbling up and dying. Swamp next door is all but dried up. Some areas have water restrictions, my town doesn't yet, so watering some of the gardens every couple of days (watered this morning).

Funny, I just took pictures of my yard about 10 minutes ago

The only green is the Day lilies and shrubs/trees. The creeping phlox in front of it is struggling, but I try to give it a bit of water a couple times a week since they have shallow roots

    Front yard dry.jpg

Still a bit of green in the parts that get shade part of the day - toward the left. That green in the center, back towards the trees is a spot that I just laid sod in so I've been keeping it watered once a day. I've also been keeping the garden on the right watered every couple of days.

Wifey watered her flowers right after I finished washing my buggy. Watered the lawn once it was shady.

    Should definitely rain now. :D

Well, so far here in the beautiful Piedmont of NC, we've had a LOT of rain. Seems like no more than 2-3 days before we get something...last one was a gusher. No issues w/ gardens or lawns so far, but the summer is just starting....at one point last summer, we went 57 days w/o rain.
    Here's the lawn so far:

My oldest son had a good weekend at the campgrounds. Took his bass boat out on the lake and caught this:

Temps have broke, high today was only 86 and at 65% humidity. Not bad since this morning's low was 70*. At 4:30 this afternoon, it 85* and 45% humidity so I went out and mowed for the first time in 2.5 weeks. Only had to do the stuff in mostly shade as the rest of it is brown, or nearly so. Neighbor's yard is in full sun all day so I won't have to mow for at least another week (more if we don't get rain - 1/4" a couple of weeks ago, and all we've had in 3.5 weeks).

    frame going up.jpg

I've been working on our pavilion project at the Zagray Farm Museum as time permits. got the frame up last weekend with the help of our 80 ton Northwest crane. Yea, I know, a little overkill to lift 500 lb beams. Our scissor lift and the cherry picker come in handy. I'll be framing out the kitchen this weekend. taking the RV and camping. We are hopeful we can have our July Show (18, 19). it all depends on what date the Governor picks for phase three.

I've been slowly removing some raised beds that have been here forever. In the past, I've used them as holding beds when I purchased plants but didn't have an area for them yet and they were great for overwintering plants. I put a ninebark in one of the beds, probably in 2015 as a leftover from the shrub garden. By the time I found another spot for the shrub, the driveway garden in 2017, it had rooted tightly and I didn't have time (or patience) to try to uproot it.

I'd gotten about 1/2 that bed mostly cleared, but the ninebark was blooming so I didn't want to stress it any more than neccessary, plus I really didn't have a spot for it yet. Yesterday a spot became available as I dug up a bunch of flowers to give to a friend (before picture of area)

    Sunshine in sunshine 1.jpg

Here is the ninebark in its holding bed. I had already shoveled out the dirt from around the pot before I thought to take a picture. Note that the grass between the front bed and the bed in the background used to be a 3rd raised bed. I put in sod a couple of weeks ago and have been watering every day so the dry spell doesn't kill it.
    Ninebark before move.jpg

It came out with a struggle, having several really deep and thick tap roots. I had to break them off but tried to leave them long.
    Old spot from Ninebark move.jpg

In its new home and deeply watered - and yes, I carefully cut off the pot it had been in. Will have to really baby it it for a while. At least it is in a shaded area so the sun won't bake it.

My brother is retired and lives in Kingston NH. Trying to build a small ground level deck off his back door but cant get the lumber to do it. When he has asked the building supply houses about future avail, he's been told to forget the project for a month or two as supply should be back by then...maybe.

Doesnt need much but nothing decent is available.

Skeets, we recently had our deck re-done and the carpenter said they had a hard time getting some of the PT materials. Seems lots of people are doing home improvement projects now.
