Just rolled in, ehh? A ginormous truckload of highly prized logs nonchalantly just materializes on your property? That stuff is great, good for you! I've only come across scraps of it here and there. Fast drying, cook-you-out-of-the-house wood. Sum beech indeed.
Love me some beech. More btu's than oak and dries in a year. Makes nice splits too! Nice looking load Joe!

Yep just rolled in. It’s taken me years to get established with some good tree guys and that’s how it works now. A different company came in about 45 minutes later and dropped off a load of oak logs
Beech is my favorite wood here in the Northeast. Great BTU's and super fast seasoning. I'd take it over Oak any day!
I’m not familiar with beech. But it looks like beautiful, relatively straight wood. I’d like to see some after it’s been split
There is some variation within the species. The only stuff I've gotten my hands on was dead standing younger trees, all 12-18" at the base. The heartwood on them wasn't darker than the outer sapwood. It was pretty much a light color all the way through.
Nice looking load, hard to find straight Beech around here, usually they are big old multi stem trees with ugly crotches. Need to add some Beech to the piles asap.
If you've been around much beech, you might change your mind about nice straight wood. Yes, in some areas there can be some really nice beech. For example, in the UP of MI there were some really nice beech (but they've been decimated) but in most places they have lots and lots of limbs and they don't grow straight. Makes great firewood though.
That's what I got this spring...about 2/3 of a cord of half straight, half crotchety pieces...will be my first time burning more than just a few pieces...looking forward to it.
