I are a good feller. Ugh. Midwinter's first tree take down, was textbook. However, of the three I dropped, 2 got hung up in the canopy. Oh well. I got to wear the FHC hat of shame.
Midwinter , How much more are you gonna haul? You have plenty of time...The contractors are in "stuck mode" with this dam drawing of mine. I'm not sure what else, he said they are hashing something else out.
Blarg about the contractors. Going out today, husband coming too, as it's a rare low humidity day. He'll do some cutting, I'll do the loading. This will be my 10th trip out there this season, but remember, I can only haul an eighth of a cord at a time, that sugar maple is so dam heavy. So, it just seems like I'm getting a lot. I'll keep going until I've gotten most everything that's felled, or the big boys show up with their big toys, or I get “the Bug” or something.
Hmmm.. builders working with their own design plans? What's up with that? Design concerns? Lot layout? Well location? Need to stay out of Midwinter's way? Whatever, I hope you don't need to dial anything back.
You rock Molly! No not design or anything else, he deals with a couple "sub contractors" Plumbing, dry wall, etc... And the plumbing contractor hasn't even looked at the plans yet. I/he was supposed to have a "lot clearing bid" by Friday and he said not a peep from that guy yet. In the meantime, I have to have my septic redrawn because the original design has the house 50ft off of where I want the house and that changes where the septic tank goes. He said it they went ahead and just used that plan and did it, the state may reject it and have to dig it all up... So, it's spend another $650.00.
NH likes to say "Live Free", but city hall still calls most of the shots. Hang in there... Heaven is waiting.
Beautiful day today! I just about got the well area cleared out, still a pile of small stuff to fill out loads. My husband cut a bunch for next time.
It sure is good for me, mentally, physically, and combustibly! There is still lots to get, but I feel like I've got a jump on it now.

I'm looking forward to the sugar maple. People have said it's comparable to oak. I've got some that's 2 years old for this winter. You and Chrissy will have fun trying out New England firewood varieties!
I only have 3 or 4 steady woods here. Swamp maple, Pin/Spanish Oak, Sweet gum and Hackberry are all over the place. Occasionally I'll get a hickory or so but seldom. The sweet gum is a great burner but you just can't split it (easy). It's stringy and rips apart instead of splitting. I'm looking fwd to trying Beech and others on my land!
The few times I've been there, I've not noticed any standing dead trees. Well, not counting that big ugly pine you took down. Hopefully, there are good standing dead, further back on the property. That would help getting your stackage underway, when appropriate p.
