Gotta take a break every once in while to just enjoy riding around the place and checking on things.

yep, the 21-22 wood is looking good, but I better get moving on the splitting of the 22-23 wood in the background.

But all work and no play makes Monte a dull boy!!!

A review of the woodyard, is never a bad thing.

I did that just yesterday, and found a bit of "leanage". I tapped things back in place, and all's well.

I'm not sure when that will be on the calendar, but for sure it would have to be right before we buy you and your lovely bride dinner at Fast Eddies. :chef:

Yep I do the same. Will take a walk and check out the stacks to make sure all is well and nothing is getting ready to fall over.

The stack on the right is 6 cords (22" cuts, double row on 32' of pallets) and will get me through a heating season. On occasion I use a little more but I also have smaller stacks around the farm other places that will fill in. The stack in the background is double row also. I just got some paths through the woods this spring so I can get back to a couple 17 year ago downed HUGE White Oaks that are pretty much just heartwood left. I haven't got back there yet to cut some samples and check it with the moisture meter to see what season it might be available to burn. I'm hoping to get it all processed this year as well.

Thanks, it makes it easy when I get it all from out of our woods whenever I choose to work on it. Some days I work hard and other days I hardly work... There is quite a variety of different species in all the stacks too. Honey Locust, some Sugar Maple, Cherry, Ash, Crab Apple, Beech, Hawthorn, Bitter Hickory, Pin Oak, Hophornbeam, and a few more I can't think of right now.

The one on the right was right about 6' or a tad higher when I split it. It has lost a few inches to drying and settling. So far it hasn't succumed to gravity (fingers crossed). The stack in the background is 4' or so and I keep adding to it. It's on 32 feet of pallets so it will end up roughly the same size as the other stack. I tend to split in the winter since I got the light bar on the truck and can do it after dark. That light bar sure stretches out those short winter days.

This area is over a quarter mile from the house so I tend to "blast" over there on the quad to check things usually. I usually also take a walk most days around the farm with the rifle looking for groundhogs. Those varmints can do some serious damage if I don't damage them first.

Still rockin the ole master Blaster, eh?!
I still have about 75% of a Banshee around here that I had plans to turn into a snowmobile engine sand dragster...but I doubt it will ever happen at this point, unless someday my son relights that torch and wants to carry it for a bit...

Yeh, the Blaster is a '89 and looks pretty beat up and that's the way I like it. I used to take it riding and a lot of guys would laugh at me cuz they had all the nice graphics and beautiful leathers and helmets. They would stop laughing when I'd blow their doors off... LOL Piped up, boost bottled, ported, hemi head squished down, and runs real good for a ugly ole blaster... LOL I had built a pretty nice little race track over at our old place, but I don't ride quite like I used to back in the day...

I always wanted a Banshee but never pulled the trigger since it meant getting two of everything to build it out. The old Blaster is fun enough and I could see myself pulling an "Ozzie" with a wild built Banshee. Hope you guys put it back together and bring it down here someday to ride.

I used to have a '81 Scorpion Sidewinder for a sled. It ruled the snow around here back in the day. That was a fun one. The newer sleds they have these days are just amazing though. 2-strokes are fun to play with.

    '89?
Yup, can't beat those old air cooled 2 strokes for simple/cheap/easy to hotrod!
We had a couple customers at the shop with pretty wicked fast "built" Banshees...the one kid raced every weekend and never did much good...his old man just kept pumping the money into making it faster...the problem was the machine was already capable of WAY more than the kid had the skills for...:picard:

duh, yes, '89 My glory days are all blending together... LOL

My skill level is solidly in the fun zone low level "thinking" I'm going fast with no illusions of being A.J, Big Daddy, or Mario. The next mod I need to do is to lose 75 lbs. instead of working on the machine... LOL

Quads actually started around '84 or so depending on the brand...but yeah, the 3 wheelers were "banned" '87 or '88...can't remember for sure anymore now...I think '87 was the last year now that I think about it more...some models I think '86 was the last year.
I know for the Honda ATC 350X they made a few '87s, but then "recalled" them, there were a few that were never recovered though... DexterDay knows where there is a brand new never ridden '87 that was bought for $10k recently, then placed in a storage bubble for safe keeping. I think I have the details correct on that...if not, I'm close.
