I seem to do okay scoring wood with minimal effort so i seldom browse for free firewood on FBM and CL. I did the other day and happened upon some decent looking wood a couple towns over from me on FBM. A bit farther than id normally go, but worth it. Have a job to do not far from there this week and figured i could grab some on the way home. Only second time ive ever contacted a FBM ad. No phone number so i emailed. No response. I emailed second time and included my phone number. Guy calls me back yesterday so i went to check it out. Wanted to bring saw, but Ms. buZZsaw wanted some things done here so no firewooding time. Met the guy and got the go ahead. Called buzzsaw to let him in on the score and we were going to set up a day/time. I get a call from the guy this morning saying they decided to keep the wood!:hair::headbang: Two others had showed up to check it out. One guy took a bunch of cut logs from what he told me.
Bitternut hickory, sugar maple and honey locust. Some other mixed in..red cedar. Park, cut and load right next to it so "easy" score. IMG_2685.JPG IMG_2686.JPG IMG_2687.JPG
Not pizzed about losing the wood, more so of the effort i put in to procure it and coming out empty. Contacted a CL add too and havent heard back after three emails!:hair::headbang:
Think i'll stick to my roadside scrounging from now on.

Who knows, the wood may have been crappy anyway if the septic cleaning tank truck is any indication. :D:rofl:

Share the wealth Brad, share the wealth! It probably went to good use! At least it didn’t go to rot.

I don't get people that place ads and don't answer when you inquire...or even worse, sell the item, don't take the ad down, and won't even bother to reply "sold" when you call/email/text them repeatedly! :hair:

Isnt that the most annoying F@#$%^& thing...excuse my French. The guy i bought my 028 from back in April kept the CL post up until it expired. I have three emails in on CL for some nice ash logs the next town over. No response. I even give my phone number too.

Most do...if you set it up...which I didn't...I fought getting a "smart" phone tooth and nail...ended up with one anyways, but I won't let it have unlimited access to all of my accounts, data, pics, etc etc etc!
Might only slow 'em down a bit, but at least I am not serving all my personal info up on a platter for them!

I stopped looking at FBM and CL. I get too irritated with what people think they have, or "dry " wood that has just been cut, or they want it gone but only want you to come and get it at the weirdest times. Plus of course old ads and no response.

The trouble is people don't read things properly. My ads for things I am selling state - phone calls only - No PMs Don't contact us on Saturday. We get PMs and phone calls on Saturdays. go figure!

I actually put a public service announcement on local FBM to remove ads when gone. Got flagged after less than 2hrs. Surprised that didn't put me in facebook jail

Der Zuckenführer considers those types of posts micro-aggressions. Someone likely felt traumatized to the core of their being after reading it. I got off FB a couple years back. The only reason I kept it as long as I did was for FB Marketplace.
