My first batch of firewood entirely produced by me, from tree to log. Aspen trees cut last fall, bucked and stacked on site on pallets for the winter, split and stacked in my (very) windy field this spring. Partially covered with old tarps the hardware store closeby is giving away and held with rocks I had laying around. Should have a shipment of 8 foot maple logs any day now for the really cold days! Its been incredibly hot lately and hasn't rained in like a week and a half and this wood is already showing very promising drying signs. This stuff will be drier than the desert in November!
So you are finally done with your FIRST batch. You had me wondering there because "Finally Done" just does not enter our vocabulary here at FHC when it comes to firewood, even for a year. And then there is always next years wood. Nice looking firewood and in a picturesque setting!
Nicely "done" until it's time to chop some more! This fall I'm aiming for the few birch trees I spotted first! Much better wood and much easier to manipulate. I make up to 6 logs with one 14 inch portion of tree trunk on those giant aspen trees, I swear the biggest ones must weigh 200 pounds each. That is probably nothing compared to those huge oak trees but I'm rocking a wheelbarrow, an ATV and a trailer over here
Great work! Once you get the FHC I itch you will never have enough. Your wife will start complaining that you have too much, but you will know that there’s never too much!
Congratulations Martin. And the way you have them stacked out in the wind, I'll bet you can easily burn them this fall. I also love the looks of that wood line in back. Pretty.
