I love the look of your post and beam wood shed! Shortly here I'm going to be tearing down my old deck and building a bigger one, but I was thinking about reusing the old deck lumber to build myself a large wood shed. What I have now is mostly stacks on pallets that are top-covered but I really like the look of a designated wood shed. Not as much of an eyesore IMO.
Not true post and beam, it's pressure-treated held together with framing brackets. A local carpenter built it for me. If you build your shed, build it twice as big as you think you'll need!
Remove the back seat from a 2 door Jeep Wrangler and fill it as high as possible. Sent from my SM-A102U using Tapatalk
I think WeldrDave mentioned the fact the neighbor is selling. You know when these people from Jersey move in - there goes the neighborhood.
Yes, it was a good sap producing tree just last year, but the power company saw a rot spot on it, and being as it would have taken down their wires and was roadside, had it taken down. Tree company was great, left everything except the brush on my side of the stone wall. I couldn't believe how big that rot spot was. Sent from my SM-A102U using Tapatalk
If I were to ever build a wood shed, I think it would be big enough to house enough wood for the next 2 heating seasons, plus one cord. I'm my case, that would be a shed to hold 8-9 cords. I'd pull/burn from the oldest side. Then refill, and pull/burn from the other side. I'd always have this coming heating season's wood, and the next. I'd refill from existing stacks. Then refill those empty racks with fresh wood. It's one extra handling of wood, but so be it. Some easy work on a hot day.
It's pretty muggy out here in the woods! A load of ash today, with a few pieces of sugar maple to keep things from flopping around. There's still the top part of the ash to buck up, but I'm wiped! Looking forward to a nice air conditioned ride home.
Nice load Molly. Imagine the knats and there other flying buddies are out in force. Knats are bad up by the wood line.
I douse myself with bug spray. Didn't notice any gnats, but a few deerflies turned up their noses at me.
There was a little breeze today, which I was grateful for. A load of sugar maple, and the rest of the ash. There's maple halfway up the drive... and some at the bottom as well.
Lots of red X's, especially up by the well. I've been concentrating on getting wood in that area, since multiple trunks will come down in all directions!
