I think I saw a local forecast.. it's a little higher - 68f at Hyannis. 58 out at Nantucket, which is more representative. Hyannis Harbor is a bit secluded form the rest of the area ocean.

When the surface temp is 50f the lake trout, salmon and steelhead are catchable by trolling the shallow reefs and the surface column of water. Now they are in 100' plus.

 

It was good for a cool drink of water right from the lake!

Some folks get their drinking water year-round from Superior this far north.

Most days there is usually not another soul around us for miles or more in the areas where we go to enjoy the "big lake."

Good morning everyone! It a nice cool morning, but the heat is knocking on our door. 90° by Thursday, and no chance of rain.
The wood from Winchester is beginning to pile up. I'll concentrate on getting it here, and worry about splitting it later. I'll pick up the rest of the black birch today, and say goodbye to Dave and Chrissy, they're leaving tomorrow morning.

Morning all. After a couple of days of gorgeous weather, it is dark and overcast out there. Supposed to rain today. Off to work for my last three weeks before the summer break. I am really going to enjoy summer this year.

Hilled my potatoes yesterday and did some weeding. For some reason, there were lots of baby thistles. Fortunately they were easy to pull.

Good morning. Went to the local Mexican store yesterday to get dinner. Wonderful food made fresh. While I was waiting I did a little shopping. Bought some milk in a quart box. Better than any crap you can buy in a regular store. Made the coffee really smooth and creamy this morning.

I will start this by saying I’m not racist.

I have never had any black friends. The demographics in northern Kentucky never made it possible. I have met many down here and we have became friends. They go fishing with me sometimes. One of which is Tajer Ray from Tampa. He leans on me for fishing tips since he lives so far away, that way when he comes to the lake he is successful.

Sunday morning Tajer and 3 friends came to the lake to fish in his pontoon boat. I had already let him know where the fish were located. He arrived in the bluegill hole and started catching fish. He got 3 phone calls, the first 2 of which he refused to answer since he was busy. The 3rd call was his daughter so he knew something was up...

he answered and immediately screamed. His aunt who was at his house the day before for a graduation party had died. She was 60 and healthy. He packed up and ran home.

He has a very large family and when they have a GTG they fry fish. On Friday they are having a wake for his aunt.

Today my friend duck and I are catching the fish for the wake. Tajer is going to pick them up tomorrow. Might even get my friend Ed’s fish to boot. Tajer is very appreciative.

next week I will get to meet all his friends and family because they are coming to the lake for their annual camping/fishing trip for a weeks worth of adventures.
