I'm not sure if anyone started this but if they did you (mod) can put this with the one that was started before this. Tomorrow one of my jobs will be splitting this pine I had bucked up after mother nature put it on the ground late October or early November of last year. After the pine is gone the Birch in the picture will come down, I think three of the four are damaged plus it will open up that area which will make plowing easier in the winter.
Keep after it Zap. We had a cool June day so I split the last of what I hauled in this winter, about 4 tanks of gas worth Took about 10 wheelbarrows to the neighbors. Now sitting by the firepit after an ice cream run.
I can't keep up with all the dead pine or the chit mother nature puts down but I'll give it my best, since the garage clearing in 2018, I hate pine. Looks and sounds good (ice cream) I was thinking about a fire today but it's still pretty dry up here.
Kinda cool here this evening so the wife started a fire pit fire while I was bringing home a load of mulberry. Got all that oak last year and split it this year and the bark all popped off. Thick and heavy so let’s try burning it, stuff is awesome. Glad I saved all of it, just have to figure where to store it for early and late burning season in the wood burner. She loves it in the fire pit mixed with some oak chunks/shavings that came off in the splitting process. The fire burned to really great coals so we had a very late supper of hot dogs roasted over the coals. The pic is really whacked for size context, the pond is the background is 8’x10’.
There is still some cleanup that needs to be done but I did get more loads of Pine over to the fireplace. It looks like we'll continue our dry spell for the next week if the forecast holds so I won't be burning.
We CSS several cords early this spring, been hauling more logs home to process, building a new wood shed and taught one of the grandsons how to roast a hot dog.
Do you ever cut a piece of wood off of a bush, maybe quarter inch in diameter and sharpen one end and use that for roasted hotdogs and marshmallows? That is fixing food over a fire the old school way.
Nice looking shed and how did the hotdog turn out? That's some nice looking firewood logs, I'm still in the cleanup mode but would love a load of hardwood to work on.
I did when I was a boy, and I think I did with my son, thanks for the reminder, I'll show my grandson. We have bamboo in the yard that will make great skewers.
Thanks, the hotdog turned out great, and we did s'mores. Grandson said he wanted a hot and cold marshmallow...lol... Yes sir we have been blessed with some great logs this year. We got some bad ones, but it was from helping a widow out, it will still burn in our stove. We got 4 loads from a storm cleanup too.
I used to have youth from our church out for a cookout and I provided 'green skewers' for the kids to use. Wanted to give them a taste of how it was back in the 'olden' days.
