Wasnt too bad. A little tricky in the fenced in area. Logs were dropped on each other. Found a rusty fence prior to cutting a log resting on it. You know how saws love to find metal!
Guy seemed enthused about my offer and ability to remove it. Plus i go to the dump and you know whats there for me...more wood! WOOHOO!

I know the Connecticut state workers often clear trees roadside on 95 and leaves the logs behind. You'll see people coming and going getting loads up and down the section from where I get on to 95 down towards Groton. I also remember after Sandy they left piles of wood roadside after the cleanup. Tons of them. Talk about a hoarder's paradise.

My buddy that runs a tree service also sells wood. They maintain a list of people willing to remove trees that his tree service has taken down and the homeowner wanted to cut up himself. Often times the homeowner will call back asking them to come back and remove it. Which is just not in their schedule. Unfortunately, the list is too long for me to bother with.

Gatorade is what I had to drink in the '70's after a severe dehydration bout (3 days ICU, parent's told to bring a casket to take me home, I was in OK they were in IN). It has gotten sweet to make it more palatable. I was instructed by a doctor then to take 2 salt tablets in the morning and 2 in the afternoon along with minimum of four gatorades a day when working in the heat. Gatorade went from an electrolyte sports drink to a sweetened soft drink in my opinion. I now drink the Powerade Zero (no sugar). To much water makes me sick, the Powerade helps. My order of preference, grape, blue then the red.

For sure that is different from anywhere else and I would still question that. If it were me, I would still be asking the land owner because what is on his land is his. In addition, the proerty lines do not stop at the road side. That is a right-of-way; the country or state does not own the land the road is on unless it is a State or Federal highway.

For example, we tend to think we own to the center of the roadway; yet, that is not always the case. When two surveys were done along our place we found that in places the entire roadway was within our property line! I remember when the county wanted to make a turn-around at the end of the road. I told them flat out that if they would take care of the road as it should be (they tend to think of dead end roads as if nobody uses them) then I would gladly give them enough room for the turn around; not deed it to them, but let them use it. I thought it was going to work out nicely but then spring hit and our road really went bad. They did nothing to fix it. I got on the township supervisor and told him what was happening and he then got on them. They did come out but their idea of fixing made it worse! I then told them the offer of the land for a turn around was no longer valid. About 6 weeks later they started dumping gravel on my land. Fortunately I caught a truck backing in and stopped him and asked what was happening. He said they were going to put in a turn-around. Wrong! Boy was the county pizzed. Came right out and told me they would survey and find the property line. Of coure that was fine with me as I can not stop the right-of-way but they could have no more. They found out the right of way barely touched where the gate is. Worked out well for us!

Went back this afternoon to get the rest. Cut all the SM i could. Some was too buried under the brush (he was still undecided about having me haul it away) that i didnt get. Not too much though.
First pic just the sugar maple. Camera battery dead so first two pics fuzzy from cell phone. Screenshot_20200613-193529_2.png
Last week he showed me this wood to take that the town cut next to his driveway. I pulled it from the weeds to buck. Dead ash with one dead oak log. Screenshot_20200613-193541_2.png
They made for a good load! Nice dry sunny day and perfect cutting conditions for this time of year.
took the 460 as well to give it some saw fun. IMG_2668.JPG IMG_2669.JPG

I remember when Nelson Boone Company was felling the Ash trees around the powerlines in our area, I ask them what they were doing with all the Ash trees and they said they would chip what they could and the rest of the log was the responsibility of the landowner.

My thoughts of getting some free Ash went down the drain but I did get the one at the end of our driveway.
