Things have been too busy for me and I haven't had a chance to play in the wood piles like I have wanted to.

My fiancé came over and we worked around the house then when she left I lit up a cigar and grabbed the 8 pounder and enjoyed the rest of the evening. It felt good to enjoy a cigar and hear the cracking of the cherry as it split. It might be hard work but it is relaxing at the same time.

For those of you that enjoy a cigar once in a while.

Yes, cherry does smell good when split. It's one of those wood smells I get caught sniffing up close in the yard. My wife thinks I'm nuts, sniffing wood :)

I like the cherry but not the work during this time of they year. Don't care for the cigar either but that is just me.

I love that Cherry and agree that's it feels good to get out sometimes just for the love of the job, instead of having to do it or on a schedule etc.... Probably doesn't hurt that your fiancé was coming over also....

I gotta tell you though, it was pretty hot yesterday.... Hopefully you had a shady place.

Everyone that has responded to this thread so far has missed the most important part!!
Ohio-there is still time to get rid of her as she is described as your fiance as of Monday!!!but time is running out for you my friend. You said in your post that she left when the work on the wood pile started...bad selection! You want one that will help out and eventually she will understand your obsession with not only the processing of wood, but also the need to talk about it on the internet! :D

In her defense, he said that he decided to start some work after she had left. ;) As far as the intriguing ladies, no thanks. If one of my exes was like those 3 gals I'd probably have been more than lightly brused by now! I have visions of gal #1 standing over me in bed some night, or gal #3 swing from around the corner as in "The Shinning". Gal #2, she's the real scary one, "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" maybe? :D
