Since this Covid thing started, I find myself with a little more freetime from work so I have managed to get a few things done outside that have been bugging me. I'm afraid those few more hours a day of extra time is now ended... I imagine I'm not the only one getting more accomplished lately... I've spent hours in the woods lining my driveway and building cutting down saplings along the border, cutting invasive vines and spraying/killing sticker bushes. I've made huge progress and it opens up the woods and allows the good trees to thrive... Feels good to get a couple things done. Propane tank needed a paint job and was settling into the ground, so I jacked it up and added a few of my leftover pavers. Primed and two coats of topcoat later. My shed that was sitting on a couple dozen bricks and had settled over the years. Jacked it up and added pavers... Added a little more hickory this weekend and brought up some wood up to the building to burn next season...
Looks like firewood storage area to me. Good feeling to get stuff like that done. I didn't miss working all the time either, and I'm self employed.
Thanks guys... It was nice just being outside. Problem with the foundation is it pretty jacked up with some big cracks and starting to bow in. I wouldn't mind putting trusses and a steel roof on the garage and use it for an open storage area, but if I did that and the wall gets any worse I would be screwed. For now, firewood storage/shooting range.
Some brackets welded on steel beams might brace those walls up against bowing in more...and good start for roof framing. Sounds like productive spring there...I got a few extra things done, but not as much as I'd like...for various reasons...
Thanks... and you might very well be right. Wont be a cheap project, and I don’t have a lot of stuff I would store in an open air garage. Tearing it down is $3,000 bucks. Did you get that new hot water tank in yet? Nice to hear from you Stinny! Hope all is well with you and your family... Now that is getting hot and humid out, I’m tapping the brakes on firewood..
Yeah, sure did...I did it while I was off for Christmas...working out really well so far. Seems to knock $10-$20 per month off the electric bill so far, and I think it may do more than that during the summer since I wont need to run the dehumidifier down there as much (at all?) Should have a better idea on that here soon. So I obviously posted about our new HPWH here somewhere...wonder where it was...might should do an update on that
