Glad to hear you and your friend like the RAMs. I really liked my 1500 Quad Cab 6'4", but I did miss the 8' a whole lot. I was lucky and got the 8.4" display which is a huge improvement from my older one with the tiny display. It also uses my cell phone and Google Maps to display navigation on the screen, Huge bonus. On the down side, the ride in the 2500 is not nearly as silky smooth as the 1500. That was really nice. The 2500 still has coils in the back, so at least it's supposed to be smoother than the Ford and Chevy 3/4 tons that use leaf springs.
Did you get the Laramie model or above? If not, did you order the LED light package? When I first started looking, I was looking at the Laramie that came with the LED lights. In the end, I went with the Big Horn which does not come with the LED lighting. My buddy told me to get the LED lighting package as the standard halogen lights are bumpkus. I can't say what the halogens look like, but I can tell you that the LEDs are worth the extra money. I love the 8.4" display. It's just right in my book. The combination of manual and digital controls is great. I use Waze for maps, and it displays great on that screen. My buddy got the 12" and I don't think there are manual controls. Anyhow, I'd get in an accident sure as sh1t within a couple of weeks trying to find everything on that screen. Jason from RI
Tradesman level. It's not my every day driver, so I was mostly going for work truck rather than anything fancy, like chrome, leather seats, etc. Headlights are whatever was standard, no upgrade. Luckily, they had me test drive one the 8.4" screen. Once I played around with it and saw that is was only $795 upgrade, I was sold. My old truck had the 4" which was o.k. for work truck, but the 8.4 is much nicer. That's the whole point. Thanks.
Anybody have a review on the Rambox option, looks like they fill the bed in front and back of the wheel wells? Not sure I like this or not. Looking at getting a new truck if I can afford.
Everybody seems to love them, but I have read a bunch of reviews where people say they love them but they look misaligned after a short time!
I have the Rambox system on mine. Wouldn’t have one without. Only trade off is you can’t get the extra large fuel tank, because they take up some of the same space. Use it for my shotgun when I go sporting clay. Fits a lot of my wood cutting tools if I drive somewhere to cut. It holds gym type overnight bags, and has drain plugs to serve as an ice chest. In addition to the floor board cubbies, there is little reason to have loose cargo laying about i the cabin. with groceries in plastic bags, and the optional dividers, you can load up pretty well. my next one will be equipped too. I think the option includes the adjustable bed gate with slots for whatever your are hauling to not slide about. The Ram Gate also attaches above the lowered tailgate to box in a larger item, like an ATV, so you get the additional floor space of the tailgate.
Thanks for the review, I decided not to go with the ram boxes...I agreed to a deal on a Ram the other day but they sold it to someone else. Had a deal on an F250 in the works and it sold before I got there too. Just sent an offer for another Ram, fingers crossed.
Added a headache rack the other day . Super easy install of the rack and the lighting. It came with a prefab harness to plug into the 7-pin trailer system. Took less than 1 hour total from opening the package to clean up. Also got the nerf bars installed. MUCH easier to get in and out now. Even my 86 y.o. FIL can get in and out.
