I know the southern guys have already dealt with the warmer air but today was my first uncomfortable day cutting and it wasn’t even that bad.

Just wait until that dewpoint gets to 70 and above. That is when it gets really uncomfortable. Stuffy for sure.

I hear you there. I was outside in the sun late this morning splitting by hand. By the time I finished up and went into the house, I had to sit down right away and drink some ice water because I was getting light-headed. Processing wood is a lot more pleasant when it's 45-50 out.

When doing yard work 8n heat and humidity, I'm sure to have ice water outside with me. Ya' need to hydrate as you go. Don't wait until any lightheadiness appears.

I walked outside this morn. Wet grass, sun kicking in, water in the air. Went back inside, closed the windows and turned on the AC.

It's even brutal just sitting on the mower...

    :tractor:

At least on the four wheeler I'm going fast enough to get a nice breeze
    :quad:

:axe:and :saw: in 85* muggy weather... YUK

But we end up doing what we gotta do...

Getting away from heat was a big reason I moved from California to South Dakota. I sweat easily, so it doesn't take long for me to be dripping wet. But I'd rather be cold than hot!

Heat really cracked up here as well. Upper 80's and 90's all week and should continue at least until Tuesday next week.

never fun doing any type of work in the heat, let alone making firewood. I was out in it all day. Luckily a frequent breeze where i was.
    I prefer the cold

Warmed up here too, I've got logs to haul off a lot clearing job tomorrow & Saturday. It's very uncomfortable to say the least. Seems like anymore it's cloudy & damp cold or hot & humid. I like 50's to 60 & sun, but that's rare here.

This year it's that way for me too.:( The winter was warm & wet so I wasn't able to work on several places due to no frozen ground. Not my favorite time to cut & split, but it's getting done.

Me too for many years. I teach so that was when I had the free time. Working ahead plus having a couple months off for the pandemic allowed me to get all the wood processed and stacked when it was cool out. Now I really try to get all that done in the fall winter and spring.

It’s been warm here lately. But there is a freeze warning in effect for June 7-10 here. Hopefully my wife’s garden survives:jaw:

I'm right there with you. I much prefer doing the heavy lifting and hard work in the cooler weather, but the summer is when I end up having to do a lot of it, just the way it is... The quick transition from 50s as a high to 80s as a high hits me harder every year, but I'll get used to it and by July I won't think any more about heading out to the woods with deet on, chaps on, hard hat, and bustin' arse gettin' it done, whatever it is that is needing done...
