Amateur run #4

Quick run on some cherry. First time grinding a ripping chain, but it seemed to go well. Making blanks for wood turning

Shame you are not closer to my shop a customer dropped some walnut logs here only 4 ft long but almost 20" in diameter with very little sapwood would probably make nice bowl blanks JB

Where are you located in Pennsylvania?

 

How short will you go? I've gone down to 2'. Just wanted to see if I could do it.

I did some 18 inch I laid a piece of 1/8 steel across the bed supports to set it on so I could clamp it it was a pain but he paid my labor time so it did not matter I also cut a lot of discs for walkways I clamp a piece of firewood length in the mill vertically and cut 1 1/2 thick discs ist a little bit of a pain but I get 1.75 a disc and it really pays

 

I might drive there for a load of walnut!

 

I think you are about 4hrs? I know it takes me about 6 to get to boonville logging show I usually go there every 2 years just to look at shiny equipment (TOYS) but it is a great show
