... so it's getting "hausen'ed"! No, I'm not going to stack a ton of splits on top of the cover. I'll figure out how to do a roof that's supported by the firewood, NOT the well cover. Darn thing is pretty old and brittle. She don't need any more stress.
In other news, I started to attack my latest score. Took a fugitive split off of my ankle and got a pretty fun bruise. Seems like I can't have a splitting session without taking one off the leg lately.
Lastly, I hung an old hatchet head that I had laying around on a spare maul handle that I cut to 20". Makes one helluva "axearoon" for picking up rounds on the ground without having to bend down. I can sink the beard of the axe head in and walk around with a piece of red oak like it's a Samsonite.

Stay classy friends. And please be kind to each other.

Get some inexpensive soccer shin guards.

My shins were always bruised. No longer.

Beautiful stacks there! If I don't slow down my wood hoarding in the not-so-distant future, I'll end up living in the dog house. In which case I'll have to keep on hoarding so I can build myself the Taj Mahal of Holz Hausens to live in

Great looking "well hausen" nicely done:thumbs: Funny you mention axearoon. I rarely use my discount tool store $3 machete and usually have it with me when im scrounging wood. I used it to hack some vines off a log i cut. Fooling around i swung it into the edge of a round and it stuck. Ended up using it as a "machetearoon" to carry rounds to the truck. Small to medium size red oak. Hafta find another.
My shins take a beating from splits. Unusual not to see a cut or nick on one or the other.

    RK,

That's one impressive looking backyard and stacks... Very neat and organized...

Something about red oak splits that make a firewood stack look extra special. I think your red oak bark roof is outstanding...!

Thanks Fanatical! You're too kind. The bark shingles on the holz hausen is actually maple from a score earlier this year. The stuff just fell right off when I started splitting the wood. All the wood in the 'hausen is red oak.
