Wow, the whole family gets involved. That is great. Reminds me of when our 2 sons were young and helping with the firewood.

When I was young my grandfather would come over and help us split wood. My mother would make stew or soup. We would all get a long good and have fun. Those were good days!

    Oh yeah.

You'll probably appreciate this little story. Suddenly as our oldest son got toward 11th and 12th grade in school he also became a bit...lazy. We'd be out cutting wood and I'd tell him to load some log or bring a log over and he would say he couldn't; it was too big or too heavy. In frustration I began telling him that it was okay; I'd get his mother to do it. Then, his mother would do it too!!! It took maybe a week to break him of that but it did work. I remember asking him about this a few years ago (he will be 57 in a month) and he does remember it and admitted that dad was right and he was wrong. He really did turn into a fine man too!

A lot of that is just rebellion, his way of leaving your ways and finding his own. It can be a tough time!

My oldest daughter learned so much at the wood yard. How to drive the side by side, the difference in species of wood, cribbing ends of stack, the weight difference of hardwood and softwood. Enjoy the memories.
