I am the exception. Most people just take the breasts out. I take the skin off the whole thing and we roast it whole. The turkey flavor is way more intense than domestic turkey. Not gamey just taste like turkey. The dark meat is not really greasy at all. Dark meat is about as greasy as white meat is on farm turkey.

This is the meat pulled off after cooking. She cooked this a bit long so it's more dried out than she wanted but I like dryer turkey anyway. But when we reheated it we put a bit of water in the bowl that we reheated it in with foil over the top and it rehydrates.
Dark meat is SO much darker than farm turkey as well. I think we are dinner four nights off this bird the two of us and made several sandwiches for lunch as many days. And the cats had snacks while we prepared meals a few nights. They approved as well. IMG_20200516_213712953.jpg

Ran a little longer..... ok a lot longer than expected almost 8 hours!!! I just pulled all the meat and it’s ready for tomorrow! Hope it’s good! It sure is amazing how the slow cooker makes stuff fall apart! I couldn’t believe all the stickers in those legs that just fell out.

Well the carnitas were a hit so we will be doing them next time I get a turkey.
Something that also was a hit was my teeth!

We had two pieces as well. My wife found two in the breast meat.

Really shows how tough the feathers are. You can't tell me at 75ft the distance I shot him, in a side shot aiming at the head that only two pieces of shot hit him in the chest. 10x that many were probably deflected by the feathers.
