Unfortunately my camera man got distracted and had to cut the vid short but I got to play with the saws today.....
Honestly, it needs a skip chain. Having some trouble with chip jamming with the bar buried and 36" of full-comp .404" chisel is about all she wants buried in Red Oak like that. Looking forward to trying it with the skip!
On bars 24" & larger I use skip exclusively,clears the chips in big stuff easier. But even with the 30" .404 skip on the 125C I was having problems with the noodles jamming up in the clutch area a few weeks back.
Funny thing is, I have no problems with full-comp 3/8" on the 441 with 28" buried, nose included. The Homelite just barely had the nose peeking out the other side and I was having to watch and listen close to avoid jamming up in the cut. I'm learning to run this machine better, it's pretty demanding. I can't imagine felling with it. Although I'd like to try it one day.
Nice! Looks likes a pretty decent amount of wood will come out of it. Will you get any of it? That Homelite looks pretty sweet spilling out the chips...
That is a sweet saw. There is a smaller one elsewhere that I was looking into. In great shape. The 441 with 28" is like butter on bread. Just looks and feels good. Nice pics and glad you got to have a little "play time" today.
No wood for me, but my buddy feeds a stove too. Too bad he gave away all the Pine! Guy showed up with a brand new PJ trailers gooseneck dump and hauled the whole lot of 2' long rounds out. I used Swags' 460 to annihilate that one. I was exhausted when we were done. He had a 12" chipper on site and it was tough to keep it fed! His wife did a great job dragging and feeding the chipper! Running the Homie in the big stick was actually pretty relaxing. . And the 441 is just stupid strong in the cut, even with the 28" buried and me pulling on the dawgs.
I completely understand the "old saw" thing..im prolly gonna get clobbered fer this..the ported 441 is powerful..smooth.and downright nasty.....why would you want to cut with anything else?...let the bashing begin....
Because the 36" on the 1050 reached all the way through the trunk and I don't have anything longer than 28" for the 441. And yes, the old Homie is just a blast to run.
Smaller chips from 3/8" too. I dunno either. I would think the .404 would do better in the long cut. Case gasket failed. First and only aftermarket part on it to fail out of several. Seals, bearings, top end is all fine. It runs real strong too. It's getting an oiler mod before I send it home however.
