OK, not my stump. A friend of mine told me his nieghbor was cutting a bunch of trees in his yard, would I want the firewood, etc. Of course I would! I'm a firewood hoarder! Sop Sunday, on the way home from my in-laws, I swung by to pick up a load. My buddy and his son, as well as the nieghbor and I loaded the truck up loosly. I just got around to splitting and stacking it yesterday after work. The first stump I found was just as bad but I ran it through the splitter before I had the presense of mind to take a picture. I did take one of this one: I have a work call with my friend today. I plan on sharing this with him. He's not a wood cutter by any means so first I need to find out if he's "helping" his neighbor. If he is, I need to have a little tree felling lesson with him. If not, I need to determine if he likes his neighbor because if he does I need to have a talk with him as well before someone gets hurt.
I've heard of people intentionally making an angled back-cut to prevent kickback of the tree trunk. But, not to that degree.
That sure is a funny way to fell a tree. He must have been fixated on dropping it more than how to split the butchered stump once he got to that point. As long as nobody got hurt and the bar didn't get pinched in the process.. Hey, experience is sometimes the best teacher.
I've seen a lot of steep back angle cuts like that, only more neatly finished, in my area. I've not seen anyone make the cut however. No survivors maybe?
If you want to make a stump chair for around the fire pit, great. Just cut the stump chair AFTER you drop the tree!!
Does Vila translate to stupid in another language. Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you’re always right.
Bob Villa is a wacko. Never trust a know it all that never does anything, except be on the tube for thirty years. Plus, who wears loafers to the jobsite without getting thumped or fired? Lol
I have been up in the mountains and seen some cuts like that but not to the degree. Of course up there no one cares which way the tree falls even if it lands on you. There is usually no one around.
It didn't even fall in the direction of the notch !! Probably had to do a few takes before he was happy enough. They should show the bloopers.
