Finally did the end of year cleaning. Finished the year with a bag count of approximately 253. Far and away the most I've ever burned, although I've only burned through three winters so far.

Sitting around with the front and back door open in shorts! Lovin it. I have an old storage shed/kid's playhouse in the yard I'm tearing the roof off of and turning into a greenhouse next weekend, can't wait.

Ugh. It's 10:30 at night, and it's 88 degrees here. I was tired of winter, but this is a bit excessive. I saw 96 on the thermometer here today. Thankfully the humidity isn't too bad, but it's still pretty miserable.

Today was Day 1 of a 2 day project to replace my central air. Of all the nights to not have central air...it had to be tonight. Thankfully I still had an old window unit tucked in the shed. The bedroom is comfy, but the rest of the house is sweltering.

We got just under 4 inches of rain today. Woke up at 3 AM and it was almost nonstop thunder and lightning for 2 hours.

Apparently I've got a flashing problem around the chimney. At least that's what the puddle on the kitchen floor this morning told me. I see a trip up to the roof in my future.

Ugh! Wife watched the news. Weatherman said temps into the 30's and 40's tonight. You got it. The stove is running. June 20th is a bit late for temps in the 30's.

Dodged a bullet yesterday. One of my outdoor faucets is in a bad location at the back of a flower bed, so I have to use a leader hose. The hose that I used last year and so far this year was an older hose that had new connections that I had put on. I was getting ready to go to Lowes yesterday, and I heard the sound of water running. Turns out the connection had come apart, and the water was on full blast. I noticed this 5 minutes before leaving, and was gone about 2 hours. I'd hate to see the mess if I hadn't been there shortly after it happened. It probably only ran for 5 minutes or less.

Swapped out the worn out Briggs for a new Harbor Freight Chonda engine on the tiller today. I don't know why I didn't do that last year. Such an easy swap, and it starts and runs great. We'll see how long it runs for.

Also put together my new sprayer for the lawn. The clover is taking over. Time to fight back. I don't mind a little clover here and there, but my lawn is almost white when it's time to mow.

Got 3 Chonda 6.5hp in my fleet. Start easy and run smooth and quiet. Just don't store them with ethanol gas in the carbs.

Whatcha spraying clover with? I spray 2,4-D and it don't do much for clover.

I have a big jug of 2, 4 - D and am planning on mixing it heavy. I know it won't clear the clover completely, but I need to figure out the sprayer first before I dump an expensive jug of Trimec in it. Gotta sort out pressure, speed, etc. Was going to do it today, but it's too breezy and I'm having my Geospring installed and don't have water at the moment anyway.

Here's a little cheaper option, but doesn't control crabgrass. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/gordonsreg;-amine-400-2-4-d-weed-killer-1-gal

Hot, humid, hurricane coming up the coast to mess with us on the 4th. No central air, but Ive got a window-mount A/C sitting downstairs in the basement to install....problem is, I am WAY to cheap to run it, so there it stays (got it fer free)....freaking bear tore down my birdfeeder again, things so used to humans I can practically pet it, and Ive got a ground bee nest to take care of later tonight......

Oddly, pellet and stove sales are brisk, even in this heat......wonder what happens this fall/early winter? (This is a reminder to you procrastinators out there....remember Feb '14?)

Same here, a bear as taken down the bird feeder many times this spring/summer. In past years if this happened once, I could take in the feeders for a few days and bear would move on. Not this year-Ive seen and chased it off several times on top of the other times I havnt seen it. So now the feeders may not go up much until Fall/Winter. I did find out that a neighbor was inadvertently feeding it but his 2 brothers read the riot act a month or so ago and told him to stop feeding the deer/turkeys. Maybe Mr bear will move on now.

Mr bear better watch it and not get too cozy 'round here. Many of my neighbors are hunters (some with small children) and its not uncommon to hear gunshots in the area......
