My wife has wanted a new dining room set for a long time. She found an Amish guy who is quite a furniture maker. Thankfully. All I had to do was move it all. We ordered it before Christmas and just got it all. China cabinet first, then chairs, table and bench. All custom size. HUGE. LOL at least that is what it felt like when it took four men to carry the table in! 9'-6" long. UGH! Best thing is it was less than half the price of buying quality built furniture at a high end place. And it is still stronger than theirs.
Thanks Cert. We love the look of Cherry. We started with the kitchen cabinets when we bought them. Premium price, but worth it in the long haul. Just square fitted ends. A little rustic look. Then I bought a bunch of rough cut Cherry from a guy out in Amish country here. I worked at it for probably a year, but I planed, jointed, cut and fit, stained and sealed all the molding in the whole house in Cherry. (Except basement.) That was a lot of work too!
That is fine craftsmen's work. That should last way beyond your grandchildren. Only thing is they will need a huge dining room to put it in. Not often that you can get furniture still all wood and and have quality craftsmanship. I wouldn't worry about any dings, they became distress marks that only increases the value.
Yup. Thanks. I asked her why she needed the China cabinet so big. WT_? It is at least 30% bigger than the one she had! She filled it already.
Beautiful furniture. Nice to have a big room to put it all in. I have always wanted a china hutch but Campinpecter came up with another idea. I will have to post pics in a thread some day.
That's a nice story, I'm glad your wife got some custom made furniture at a reasonable price. Something you don't see much of anymore.

Looks great! And absolutely no fiberboard/laminate/special fasteners/cam locks used in the construction right? Wood is good!
