I'm picking up 15 broilers next week. It's been a few years since we've had chickens and I've never raised broilers but had kicked around the idea w lot a few years back but never pulled the trigger on it.

I'm going to build a smaller salatin style tractor for them, 8x4 or 8x5.

My kids want layers so it looks like I'll be building a coop for them soon. I told them they have to take care of them or they'll end up in the freezer and eventually my belly lol.

Ok this update is fun. We only had a couple hours to work but things clicked like you wouldn’t believe. Got a couple beams across, divider, and some plywood walls. Tomorrow a lot will be worked on to finish a big majority of it and finish most of the interior. 1CC138E6-5F5A-432B-8817-540C0E01B13B.jpeg A62C0D06-082A-4216-BDCB-67F2240DE214.jpeg EDAE8007-A38C-40B6-AF37-D65870F760D7.jpeg EFDCCB0D-C891-42D6-AE38-B3F58A47954E.jpeg
They are in their new home and enjoying the alfalfa tonight! At one month old today, seems fitting for them!

By the time our chicks were 2 weeks, they were eating about a quart and half of grains down to the bottom of the feeder in a matter of hours. Now they are happily eating mix grains and old alfalfa. Peeping away like mad.

Pretty much done for the time being. I would like to add some trim to match the shed but other projects are calling. I’ll get to it, some day...,
