"Some fine shot" like #8's or "a fine shot" like .308 @ 500 yards? I can do either.

Maybe just a little sting on the surface.

Had something similar happen in the 60's :BrianK: but I used a 16 ga with 6 shot at about 25'. Dog yelled so loud that I think everyone in town herd it! Didn't die, lived for years and never saw it loose again.

I hate having to kill a dog, but I had to a few years back. It would come in the yard, stare at the house, and bark....for hours...usually when I was trying to sleep. After that it growled and barked at the kids and that was it for me. It took me about 3 weeks to get that thing at the right angle to not shoot toward neighbors, but one day it slipped up and gave me a broadside shot right into the corn field behind the house. I put a .22 right in the boiler room....it spun a few times and ran off.....saw it drop out in the field about 50 yards away...down in 10 seconds and no carcass to dispose of.

The shore has an angle up as well. We put down 2x10's and such to let the feet slide up. Pulling the dock out is a lot of ATV winch use. Dropping it in with the slope is easy as long as you do it right the first time. ;)

It's heavy even being all aluminum, but pretty easy. yooperdave 's is probably the easiest with the lower the cable drawbridge style.

What about the freezes that will happen in the next few days?

All that's happening in the garden itself is a till until later next week some time.

Found it!! 1960's panel that feeds the inside house fuse box. There is a 3rd breaker in there I don't recall, but it was tripped (space heater). Not the professor in the den with a candlestick, but WW in the garage with cell phone flashlight.

I was standing in the kitchen a little while ago when I heard what I can only describe as one of my wifes kayaks being violently smashed around on the ground, which is what I thought it was at first.

Looked out back, and the kayaks were right where she left them. Looked the other way and saw wood spilling out of my Rubbermade shed. I had left a single stack of dry oak in there since February for next year, and 3 months later it randomly fell over. Of course I had also stuck my snowblower in there for summer storage, so its now covered in splits. :headbang:

Grabbed what can be described as 1/2 a trailer of maple today. Went to cottage and drained the water lines (on top of ground; no well-just use lake water for flushing and cleaning) and changed a wheelbarrow tire. That dang job was a test! The place where I bought the tire from must store those replacement tires as flat as a pancake! Then, grabbed some firewood on the way home..... without any damage to the truck! :handshake:

The guy told me it would be in the 300-to 550 price range for my forgetfulness! (repair cost to the tailgate)

I had the processing area all raked up over the weekend. I took about an hour to split some red pine and maple rounds this afternoon. The area is a mess now and I'll have to build another rack. I should be around six cords when I bring a few more rounds from out back though.

I almost took the woodstove out of the barn where it is stored and brought it into the house, but was gassed from work and splitting.

Even went vertical on the bigger ones. 10-12 splits out of these.
