I agree with many others on this thread and the 70cc will suit you best. Also, re-tool the Crafstman with a 16” b&c to take care of the limbing and stuff above the waist.

    Best of Luck!!

Not even thin gloves? That's what I use, the mechanix style ones. No heated grips needed for me even with all of my winter cutting. Then again, I've never had an issue with cold hands. On days when I have my snowmobile's hand and thumbwarmers on low, maybe medium, other friends have them on high and can barely keep warm.

I'll cut and do firewood work in winter, down to about 8 degrees. But that's my limit. Usually it's my face and feet at that temp, not my hands.

Yep, Tracking just showed my saw arriving at the Troutdale Hub, less than 30 miles from my house, so close, yet so far.

I will leave for an out of town assignment tomorrow, and my saw should deliver on Monday:(

Of Mixed reactions, the hotel I am staying at, might not allow my Wife to stay the weekend with me. Lincoln City is a bit over 2 1/2 hours each way from home, so it's not a practical daily commute, but it is a coin toss as far as which is more cost effective 2 nights per diem and Hotel stays, or travel Time and Mileage home and back next week, the Boss Lady let me decide which I want to do, the wife was really looking forward to getting some time together away from home, but maybe not now, so maybe I will get to inspect and test run my new saw Friday and Saturday

    Such is Life:rolleyes:

You live together, I don't think the hotel can say much about that, if it's due to Cv19 why they might not let her stay with you.

They are supposedly worried about additional people bringing the virus, but as you said, we live together, so it's unlikely that she will bring it and not me, she has been stuck at home, while I have been out working, if either of us were to have it, it would be Much more likely to be ME, but like most other aspects of this Fiasco, Logic has very little to do with it. I will just get to come home for the weekend, spend time with my Wife, and take any viruses that she has that I don't already have with me when I go back next week, didn't solve a thing, but didn't endear themselves to someone who is there on their behalf, so they have Cable, Wifi and Cell service.

But, I do get to inspect and test run my new 372XP a week earlier:D

I'm cutting mostly birch and maple. Occasionally fir but I try to stick to hardwoods only. This year I got some madrona, dogwood and black locust. Oh, and some decent sized Holly rounds. My saw really only had trouble with quartering the monster birch rounds. I think I have decided on the Stihl 462. Might as well go all in and buy something that will cut anything I ask it to.

Well, I didn’t get home as early as I had Hoped to, but the New 372XP was waiting patiently by the door for me:thumbs:, so I did get the B&C mounted and the tanks filled.

sounded really Goooood when I fired it up :D

I have to admit that being a West Coaster, a 20” B&C looks Funny on a 70cc saw but it is what the Dealer I found had. I did pick up a used freshly dressed 28” bar for it at Madsen’s awhile back, for $25, but I put the new B&C it came with for the initial inspection and test run

I don’t have any logs on hand so I will have to go out to the woods to try it properly :saw:

Yep, I have heard many, Many, MANY compliment the 372XP, with Very Few Derogatory remarks about it(Mostly from those Jelly Stihlheads;)) from what many have written the 372XP and 346XP are practically Legends, the 346 has almost a cult like following, and the pair would make an almost Perfect 2 saw plan for many (Wait, WHO would want ONLY TWO SAWS???:jaw::bug::hair:) I'm Still looking for that NIB Barn Find 346XP for $50:rofl: :rofl: :rofl: .

I have heard so much about the 372XP, it was on my "Gonna get me one of those someday " List, well being discontinued, and the dealers shelves getting empty of 372XP's I decided that I better jump on one while I can, Have I mentioned that I MAY be afflicted with a SLIGHT case of CAD:whistle:

I have read how some guys prefer the 372XP (OE/Pre XTorq) and some like the 372XP XTorq Better, if things pick up, there is a seller on the AS forums, in Indonesia that can still get Pre X Torq 372XP's, so Hopefully Robinwood will still have one for me If/When the time is right, I would Enjoy comparing them myself, (I DID mention CAD, didn't I??)

The FEW NIB 346XP's that I have seen on ebay, you NEED a Gold Hoard to buy, about $825 after shipping, the couple that I have seen, were coming out of Turkey, $740 + $85 Shipping, and they SOLD:bug::hair:, I would LOVE a NIB 346XP, but that was just a bit spendy for my taste:(

Still Looking for that NIB Barn Find for $50:rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

I haven't used the 372 cutting yet, but it didn't seem much heavier or any more awkward than my 266XP, that was my "Big Saw" of my 2 saw plan, for Many years before CAD, or I even knew that I had a "2 saws Plan"

I imagine that it would depend on what you are cutting though, After using the 3120XP as my Big saw for Big wood, before I bought the 390XP, and 395XP, the 266XP felt like a Featherweight, but we were getting into 30"+ wood a lot, and I didn't feel like abusing the 266XP, and I Prefer cutting from one side when I can, Oh and have I mentioned that I MAY have a Slight case of CAD??

I’d be happy to find a really nice clean used 346 for around $300/400
