Wonder how this would do on coyotes out of a Thompson Contender 30-30? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats a very light weight bullet for 30 cal. But if they stabilize, that would work great for coyotes!.
Out to 100 yards or so, yeah. I know that a typical 30-30 150 gr for deer that the bullets drop pretty bad after 100 yards. This is a lighter bullet than those rounds though. In a single shot sure, but most 30/30's are tubular mags and you have to be careful with bullet selection. Honestly, I've not seen much reloading with this cartridge, just commercially manufactured rounds. That said, a 55grain .223 works great on yotes. I can tell you what a 7mm rem mag does to a big yote.
I'm guessing near 2400fps from a 20" barrel. But the 1 in 10 twist my not stabilize the short bullet well enough for long ranges. Wow, it's been a long time since I've thought about those things. Haven't had an FFL since about 1979 or 80.
