We snuck away and this is the earliest we have ever opened up the camper for the year. Despite there being ice on the lake yet it has been pretty nice out. And can you go camping without a fire-NO!
Amazing what 24 hours can do. Had rain at night, the sun came out and the ice all but is gone today. Almost 5,000 acres of lake almost ice free tonight.
Beautiful pic! We're hoping the campgrounds around here are permitted to open up soon. We have a trip to md planned for the end of may
I called up to my camp last weekend, I wanted to go up and spend the night and get over to see Well Seasoned . But the owner said no as there is still snow on the ground from the many recent storms, and he didn't want me rutting up the roads with my truck on the way in. Glad you were able to enjoy yours Greenstick !
I know, seems like we got a heavy dusting of snow every other day last week, and still having temps in the upper 20's and low 30's at night and still having morning and evening fires. We have been turning the outside water on when working outside lately, and we have to shut it off and drain it down every evening, I'm getting tired of that. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we can leave the water on.
Second weekend in a row that we are the only ones staying here! Put the dock we just bought in and are about set for the season.
Did you go for a swim? Lol Our lake that we were on in the boat yesterday was not warm at all. It will warm up though.
Unfortunately yes! A neighbor needed help on his dock. Went out on it to adjust the legs up and the decking on it is plastic, old, and weathered. Just as I knelt down to reach for the set screws, the plastic made a crinkling sound and I wend through the decking pannel. I was in mid abdomen deep water with 20 mph wind bringing at least 1 foot waves and trying to climb out onto the frame where decking used to be. I'm now the owner of a second set of tonsils.
My little princess helper swiped my cap right before dunking some cookies! We sure enjoyed having the place to ourselves.
