I downloaded an app from the play store that lists the questions and gives the correct answers, I see on youtube a lot of ppl recommend it,
that way you only see the right answer for the question.
I haven't forgotten about the pictures at my other house, I just haven't been able to get over there yet.

    Hey all.

Haven't updated here in a bit.

Like many others, life's been just a tad disrupted.
    :picard:

Looks like there are many ham's involved in trying to organize online testing due to the current crisis.

Still a lot of talk about C19, as one can imagine. Some conspiracy folks out there, not a surprise, but plenty of folks just discussing how they've been keeping themselves busy.

A lot of the amateur community is older folk who are most susceptible to the virus.

There are daily "net's" where people sign on at a certain time and frequency. The net leader manages the call-ins and each person gets their time to update the group.

There is a lot of contesting on the weekends. Radio groups organize the contests, and it's all about making as many contacts as possible.

No chit-chat, just a signal report and your location is usually what they are after.

Made contacts with folks in North Dakota and Georgia yesterday. I've also chatted "ragchewed" with people in Colorado, Eastern NY, Virginia, Wisconsin, and other places that slip my mind right now.

Been interesting, fun, and frustrating all at the same time.

I'm still hoping to take the test for Amatuer Extra, but will have to see how the online stuff works out.

I can/will update if others are interested.

Same info worldwide on digital as the US. Been about a week though. I'll take a listen tomorrow and report back.

Your problem is likley the programming cable you are using and the drivers on your computer. Most of the cheap programming cables that you find don't have the right chipset for the drivers that are in the current Windows Opsys. The cable that works the best is around $35 and has the good chipset that doesn't conflict with the current Windows drivers. I can't remember the name of the chipset at the moment.

Here is another good resource for studying. I studied online for my Tech license 10 years ago. Worked real well!

Thanks. I could only find it by going to the repeaterbook websiee and looking there. And for some reason, I couldn't get it to install. I'll have to work on it some more.

Brings back memories of my old man. He worked 6 meters, late 50's through the early 70's, with the call sign K8KVR, King, Victor, Roger. As a kid I was lucky enough to be able to speek with folks all over the country with him way before cell phones. And could tap out Morris Code like a wildfire in a dry forest.

That Morse code amazes me! I've watched the older generation do exactly that! Incredible!

I did get it to work and have used it a bunch. Thanks guys. It's a rea helpfull app.

Right now I'm using it to find digital repeaters. I just ordered a Yaesu FTM-7250DM, so I will probably play with digital a bit. I have used Echolink on RF, my computer and cell phone to talk to guys all over. Didn't think I was going to be interested in digital at all, but when I went to buy a new dual band radio, getting one with digital (in this case YFS) isn't really anymore money these days. Should be here this week and I'll get it programed and on the air soon.

Also getting ready to build a dual band J-pole, which will be my fixed based antenna if it all works out.

If anyone needs a nice SWR meter with extra features, I bought a Surecom model SW-102. About 60 bucks from Amazon, and it has a lot of features like signal counter, power out and reflective, USB rechargeable battery, etc. Nice little unit. Haven't used it yet, but will be using it it tune the J-pole when I build it.
