While having my coffee early this morning, I hear a chainsaw running and see that I have a tree down at the end of my driveway with the County guys sawing at it. Its a big hickory which was a leaner that tipped over and the crown was blocking the road. The county guys just cleared the road which was mostly cutting just the top and left the rest. Saved me a bunch of work this morning with them taking all the branches and clearing a spot for me to get out of the drive. Hate to lose the tree, but don’t mind some Hickory in the stacks either.
No... tree busted the fence and the mailbox when it came down. No big deal I have extra rails for when this happens. I’m just glad I didn’t have to deal with all the branches in the road and on the drive... If it wouldn’t have landed all over the driveway , I would be the one cleaning up all the branches.
I'm glad the tree didn't fall on your house, or vehicle, or some kid riding by on his bike. So all are safe, and you've got some nice Hickory for the price of a few fence rails, which you have some spares for. Good trade!

This landed on the road and most people are going around 45 MPH or so... it happened at night too, would have been a disaster. My tax dollars at work is right... I would have been out there with my saw right away, just glad they beat me to it. I know.. Hickory.. I’m jacked.. i don’t get it too often.. its not shagbark... but it’s hickory. I don’t know... guessing around 20” or so.. It’s bigger than it looks. Maybe I’ll take some pics..

oh ok. I was referring to whats left of the tree when he starts cutting and after. The way i understood it was they just cut the limbs giving him room and he has to cut the rest up.
No worries. I was more confused than i usually am. Had to read his post a few times and see if i missed something. I have a habit of quickly skimming through and not letting what im reading register upstairs!
All they cut was the top limbs/branches that covered both sides of the road. They didn’t cut anything else. The rest is mine to deal with... I’ll take pics.. not sure when I’m going to get to it.. funny thing is I cut a bunch of firewood this weekend already. I’m pretty busy with work these days. Maybe next Saturday, weather permitting.
Funny as those dudes are making good money 8-12 hours a day and didnt deal with the whole thing? Coffee time i guess?
