I get that you like them and that is fine but your reasoning and trying to run down the log tongs does not make sense.

    1. Picking up the log; with the grippers, all one has to do is watch your video and see how much a man has to bend to pick up a log off the ground. But not so with a log tong. Indeed, when one is young and in good physical condition that bending does not seem like much but as one ages or has injuries, that bending gets to be a real trial.

    2. You say the log tongs are clumsy. I have yet to hear that from anyone but you. Even at the many GTG's we've had and attended, the log tongs win out hands down. I have never thought they were clumsy and do not understand why you say they are.

    3. Carry one log in each hand? That can be done with the carriers and the log tongs.

    4. While carrying you mention banging the legs. What? I've never banged a leg while carrying logs and don't really see how you would

    5. If one does want to "throw" firewood, he can with either unit.

    6. Putting log into trailer. It is as easy with one as with the other. If the log is really heavy, with either unit a slight swinging motion makes the task much easier than simply lifting. I stack firewood to about 4 1/2' then top cover. I still used the log tongs while putting heavy blocks or logs on top to hold down the covering.

    7. Let's face it. Both of these tools work as intended if one also uses his head. It is just that most folks much prefer the log tongs. I have absolutely no problem if you don't like the tongs. Keep stacking!

Yep I use ice tongs too. I have couple of them that I extended the handles on so I would not have to bend over. I mainly use these when moving around big logs getting them into a different position for cutting or loading. They are a back saver.

I haven’t seen you around in awhile, glad to see ya here still! I use the LogOx as well. Helped a neighbor try to roll a 20+ foot section of Doug Fir a couple days ago. It worked fine but the tree had pinched the neighbors saw in the middle and once we finally cut it in half, it was manageable. This was 2 days ago. Still sore from that. Whew. I hope they get a longer section of bar, it would work but that was a limit on the heaviness a log this was meant to work on.

Had a house fire back in January and have been kinda busy since. No one got hurt and we have insurance. Once I re acquire everything I will be back to cutting and hoarding. My log tongs we’re in my splitter in the pole barn, but my Log-ox were in the garage and are gone.

I know, it's all personal preference and how they are being used. I'm just basing it on how I use mine and the heights at which I need to lift the logs too when tossing them. I'm also 6'5" too. I've seen others use tongs in my presence and they just aren't for me. :) The banging the legs is based upon the observation of the position at which the logs are being carried, that's all. I only use mine to carry freshly bucked up logs (I half or quarter the big ones by hand) from in the woods to my ATV trailer. I don't have a need for them at any other time. I agree, mine will require you to bend over a bit more, which I'm OK with because of how I use them.

I guess it wouldn't surprise me too much that I prefer something most others don't....lol It's been that way my whole life. :D
