Nice job there BRAD. and you told me that the one skill you were lacking was stacking. Sorry I just am not seeing that. Looks awesome!!
I'm the in the same boat. I rarely get cherry, mostly silver maple and oak. Offered alot of pine which I decline most of
was i talking fast when i told you that? Stacking is the one task of making firewood that im likely to not get done of the four tasks.
Finished a couple more rows. Front row all green fresh cut black locust. Row behind it topped with sassafras. Cherry, ash, and sugar maple mixed in. Started a second row of BL. Dunno if i have enough it to finish. Each row tight half cord.
That stack is as massive looking as it is tight and neat! Time to think about changing your name to "blacKLocust BRAD".
after all, once you have black locust, you never go back! Thanks for the kind words UW! Thread to be updated as the stack does.
Split the rest of the locust and stacked yesterday Two full rows of it and over a full cord. Set three new pallets in back. Wanna stack deader/dryer wood in back and continue with green in front.
Oh Brad will you slow down brother?...I can't keep up!!! I went upstate NY today to visit my sister and they have some acreage. I was able to scour their property for some fallen wood and I took home a load of small diameter elm. You know the kind ... mostly dry with no bark and some tiny beetle holes. Wont be splitting except for a few of the wider ones, but will buck them down to size tomorrow. My allergies were the worst so far this year with nose running and sneezing constantly. Whenever you wake up and see that yellow-green dust coating the cars then this is not going to be a good day for me. Such a pain that I couldn't enjoy the country air even with a Zyrtec!
More buck n' burn...good stuff. Any pics? Too bad about the allergies...tis the season. No pollen dust seen here yet as rain has been a regular.
Did some stacking late this afternoon. Played more cribbage too. Sugar maple and some oak i split at home and brought over. Have more SM there to split. One more row of pallets to be added to the front side. Sassafras on the back side. Dead ash rounds to be split and stacked on the back side.
I'm not impressed......with me That stack is going to have its own gravitational pull soon!... at the very least I'm worried it can throw off the earths natural rotation and everything will be out of balance! I noticed you placing sassafras on the back end. Is this the idea shoulder season wood on the shoulders of this stack? You can start burning in the fall working from the outside in where by winter you are into the black locust heart and then continue to move through and finish on the other side with more shoulder season wood. Hmmm?....sounds like a concept. Though something tells me that there is no shoulders to this stack as it's designed to keep growing until you throw the earth of it's axis. You're a mad man Buzzsaw!!
