Kind of a scrounge. My neighbor had a sugar maple taken down and offered me the wood. This is the third trailer load. All that's left is 4-5 big rounds 40+ inches across that I have to cut into smaller pieces. I tried bringing the splitter over to chunk the up vertically but struggled big time doing it myself. Got the whole trailer split this morning after loading before the rain started. Luckily I'm literally nextdoor which makes things a little easier. The last picture is some stuff I got dropped free from Craigslist.
Thats some nice firewood! Cant beat having it that close. Big rounds can be a PITA to process but make lots of splits. Welcome to the FHC EMPASam Great to have you join us! Lots of info, knowledge and laughter here.
Welcome to FHC EMPASam! Nice to have another New Englander joining up. Maybe someday we'll all get together. I'm in Nashua, NH. That was a big old sugar maple!
A scrounge? Yup - sure looks like one to me. Always good to see another Masshole become a member. Welcome!
Nice pickup for sure. Welcome to the ranks! You did great providing pictures as visual appeal is required here!
Welcome to the club. Looks like a dirty hands splitter. That’s what I have. Have you upgraded the wheels and tires? They look bigger than stock. I would like to see some close up pictures if you have. I tend to drag mine more miles than it was probably designed for
Nice first scores!!!! Mine were softwoods and almost twigs! You might end up scoring often like that buzzsaw Brad guy
Nice looking hoard. Welcome aboard. I believe you are the only other member with a Oregon wood splitter. Hope you like it as well as I have.
I'll try to grab a few pictures of the splitter when I get home from work or maybe tomorrow. It's an Oregon 28 ton. It actually belongs to my wife's uncle who happens to live across the street. It has mostly been towed back and forth between our properties. I'm actually looking at getting my own. I might rebuild this one because he wants a new one. The seal at the shaft is leaking so he wants to get rid of it. I may take it off his hands.
Add this to my scrounge. There were probably 50 or more left. A few had wooden sides to make crates, I grabbed one for nubs.
