The new log lifter

Dad's old jcb telehandler (big bird) decided to spit the flywheel teeth off and he decided it was time to put the old leaky girl out to pasture. He's been on the hunt for a new heavy lifter and showed up with this on sunday. It's a Lull 842-42c (32' forward reach, 42' lift height and 8k pound max weight). We'll certainly miss ol big bird and how compact it was, but she earned her keep around here 10 times over.

Those things look so useful to have around.

 

They're handy machines no doubt. We usually get the calls to take logs that noone else can handle (or wants because of the size).

 

They're also really handy for pushing trees in the right direction with the long tall reach.

 

That they are. The new machine weighs in at 23k. She's heavy!

 

Wow, if you were closer. What did the ole girl have for an engine?

 

4cyl perkins. We may try to revive it but to remove the flywheel, the engine has to be pulled. That's a feat in itself

 

I'll bet. Is the engine along the right side of the driver? Like your trickle battery charger!

 

Haha you noticed the panel. Yea it works great. He's got a few of them on various equipment. We don't run new batteries around here lol.
