Is now a good time to share stories of STUPID PEOPLE...ah... I mean customers?
Not to say some dealers aren't bastards but..

TREs held together with twine yet Shop is running a sham cause i told service writer it needs to be replaced.
Was sued by owner of a car i put tires on with destroyed "ground effects" claiming it was damage from a 2 post lift. Too bad we used 4 post lifts.
Was assaulted by a customer who became irate I wouldn't repair a flat on a tire that was junk. He drove it low on air for so long the inside of the tire came apart. Again... A "sham"

Or recommend oil, coolant, brake, etc fluid change... BECAUSE IT NEEDED IT... But trying to rip them off. Yeah cause coolant that looks like mud is fine. Or 60,000 miles on the factory oil is fine.

 

True their is a lot of that too. I have also had problems with little shops as well. In reality you have shady people in all types of business. Car dealerships seem to have a lot though.

 

Its hard to find any position in a dealership that isn't comissioned based pay. Unfortunately.

 

Part of the driving force behind what makes the car industry so tainted.

 

Don't take offense but it isn't anything new, one thing I made sure to do is educate my two daughters on the fact, oil change shops, repair shops and dealers, may try to sell you crap you don't need.
I can't watch over them all the time and do all thier Matainince

 

No offense to anyone thats been around the block at least once, I'm sure most everybody knows that. Just sucks that it is the way it is.

I'd like to know what part of the frame inspection involved pulling the timing belt cover?

 

Well if they had pulled the cover they would have seen the new belt.

 

Well I picked up my truck today. I asked to speak to the Service Manager. I told him what happened. He said that there was probably residue left from the old leaky water pump that the mechanic saw, he couldn't explain why the new belt was described as cracked. I told I doubted I would ever come back (leaving the door open for him to make amends) He thanked me for letting him know and that he would look into it.
I checked the job they did coating the frame and it looks like a blind guy did it. Quite a few places didn't even get coated.
