This cold spell is not unusual

No it’s not unusual Dennis . I sure wish we could have had more of the mid 20’s for lows back in March . Would’ve helped with the sap run .

 

I hear ya Dennis. Here in Wyoming some of the months with the highest snow fall can be March and April. Today we are getting around 8" or more. Not unusual.
Although I am ready for some warm weather and getting back out side.

 

Down here at the border of Michigan and Ohio they are calling for a few inches of snow tomorrow

Yep you sure looks like you got your share of the snow. What happened to April showers. I know it got cold.

Wasn't too many years back when we had the worse ice storm in decades.
when we got up in the morning and went outside everything looked like a crystal palace 1/4" of ice covered everything. You could hear the tree branches cracking and crashing to the ground. Power lines were down here for 4 days. Roads were a skating rink. If your vehicle was outside you had to chisle your way in. Yeah, April can be tricky.

You’re right, Backwoods Savage! Not that you needed me to tell you that I think it was in the projects during the stay at home order, where I said that it seems I usually end up turkey hunting at least once a year on some sort of snow. It’ll be over when it’s over

 

There will be another round of accumulating snow today. Unlike
yesterday, this will be a synoptic system which will result in
widespread snow rather than snow shower. Low pressure and an
associated shortwave will track across Pennsylvania this evening.
Lift will be generated from mid-level warm air advection which will
develop ahead of this system, and from the shortwave and associated
mid-level trough. The timing of this is slightly later than previous
runs, and this makes a difference because the later timing will mean
that the steadiest snows will now arrive at the tail end of peak
heating. This is important, because as we saw Wednesday evening snow
can start accumulating quickly after 4-5 p.m. Based on this, have
issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 3-6 inches of snow for the
Western Southern Tier. Snow accumulation will diminish quickly to
the north with 1-3 inches south of Lake Ontario, and little to no
accumulation east of Lake Ontario. These accumulations will mainly
be across higher terrain and on grassy surfaces, but slick spots
will become more widespread after sunset. For us over in WNY!

 

Isure do! I was living in a cottage on Lake Orion at the time. A power line was down across our road and was sparking like crazy. Ice everywhere. We were stuck inside for a day until
Edison got there and cut that line. Took several more days until all the folks on the lake were back on.
