I replace my splitter valve late last season. When I did, I noticed that one of the fittings looked wrong, but it did tighten up and it didn't leak. But in the back of my head, I knew...

Fast forward to yesterday. Fitting started leaking. Pulled it apart, and I thought I may have messed up the threads in the new valve, but luckily, after cleaning and inspecting, it was good.

A quick trip down to the truck shop (they have lots of hydraulic stuff) and I had what I needed. Got back, put it back together, went to try it out and seen that one of the pins that hold the valve handle together was missing. damm it!!! Looked everywhere. Couldn't find it. Back to town to TSC to get a pin. Nope. Got a bolt and nylon nut to make it work. Went to put it on, dropped the nut, but sort of seen where it went on the ground covered with grass and chips. Seen it, and 2" away, low and behold, was the pin. Uggg...

Finally got it all back together, and finished splitting what I wanted to. Do things right the first time is the key. I should have known better.... 20200414_125259.jpg 20200414_144945.jpg

Sound like my luck Frank. Try to find a bearing out of the control valve in a pile of bark and chips:headbang:

A good magnet is your friend. I forget, I think it was a nice set of hinges on a wooden box, dropped one, could not find it anywhere, brass so not magnetic, no replacement, big box store from my home, closest one is 45-55 miles away. So, I drop another one and keep an eye on it. Ended up dropping another one before I found the first one. It was a risk, but at that point, losing two wasn't any worse than losing one. Have used that a couple of times. Glad you are back up and running.

I would be better off paying for an extra screw or bolt with whatever I buy as more often than not I can manage to lose one on whatever I work to on.

Actually I had packages of screws and nuts. Not my first rodeo! :)
