A Sign of the "Current" Times

With Stay Home Orders and Social Distancing in place there is no more door-to-door soliciting. Guess who I just received a phone call from on our home line?

A very nice lady who had to read me a scripture passage.

I remember a friend or maybe it was someone here asking, "I wonder what the Jehovah's Witnesses will be doing during the Stay-Home orders?".....well now we know.

 

I'm on their "stay away from that house " list already, now I'll have to expand my reputation to their phone call list...........................actually if we don't recognize a number we don't answer the phone. Eliminates most all of the nuisances on the phone side.

I just had a guy from " CD Roofing" call me up saying they would be in my area giving assessments of our roofs after the hail storm we had last week.

I told him to stay at home and do not contact me again, and take me off of their list.

CD Roofing? Yeah it's seedy. GTFO

 

Ditto.
However, wife sometimes has a tough time not answering the phone, but has NO problem politely , yeah let's use that term, telling them not to call here again.
Remember way back in the day when we used to answer the phone any time it rang, because it was usually someone we knew and actually wanted to talk to.......sometimes?
Yeah, me neither, but some did.

 

I've blocked so many numbers that have called in the past couple years.

 

I bought a set of Panasonic cordless phones for home a few years ago with the Call Block option. Money well spent IMHO. Added a new number today

 

I got rid of landlines about 20 years ago. Smartphones have gotten really good about identifying spam, and making it easy to block numbers. Sometimes you will get calls from similar numbers, but you block those too, and then the crap calls severely drop off.

 

They take your deposit and put it in a CD!

 

And then they step on the GAS!

 

CD? Crossdresser?

 

I always heard that answering the door naked will keep the jehovahs away.

So.....if you answer the phone naked...…??? I guess you'd have to tell them!

 

I was having a cup of coffee outside this morning and did not see any airplanes anywhere in the sky for at least two hours. Later I was outside doing some spring yard work and again there were
no airplanes to be seen. Over the course of the day only one airplane made it into my view.....It reminded me of my childhood days before air traffic was so dominated in the skies.

 

I made the mistake of being nice and polite to them. After their 3rd visit my politeness was gone and I may have called the nice lady the worst thing you can say to a woman. They never came back!

 

No JW here anymore. They were stopping occasionally but I recognized them. Opened the door said what do you want? Started squawking about themselves and suck. Not so politely interrupted and said make it quick, come in for a beer or 6 finish what you got to say.. girlfriend is waiting in my bed and wife is due home sooner than later. Never saw them since.

 

We had a large Doberman when I was young. I remember my dad letting him out the back when the jehovas came knocking. Almost always dropped everything they had on the front porch and ran for the car when old rusty rounded the corner of the house!!

 

It wasn't a transmission repair place.
