Having a still is illegal if it holds more than one gallon talk to a revenuer for the specifics as to what and how the process takes forever in order to become legal and is costly.

Traditionally it is made by distilling the liquid from potatoes or cereal grains that have been fermented, though some modern brands use fruits or sugar as the base.

We're not trying to time the next pandemic outbreak... our plan is to put in place a system that times the buying habits of hoarders and has us getting our supplies well before the panic buying starts.
We usually keep enough food, supplies and tp here to last a few weeks, but when an emergency pops up, we plan to get our supplies prepared way before the hoarding starts. Let's call it Prepping²

We're always stocked up. But when we see something on the horizon, we stock up on a little bit more...

Eckie, I looked into this process several years ago as I was fermenting honey and grains, the honey to make mead and the grain make beer. I also did several fruit wines.

With my luck the revenuers would watch me build the still and laugh when they arrested me.

I'm not too worried about alcohol in a real pandemic or emergency.
If your main concern in an emergency is beer, wine, or spirits, you're in trouble...

Revenuers worry about the loss of taxes.

I’ve been in home distilleries. Legal or not. It’s really easy and fairly cheap now that the home brew community has developed these cool little electric stills. I like alcohol. But this is like learning how to make toilet paper, booze is shelf stable, just go buy several cases if you want trading stock or need a supply. I can make alcoholic stuff in a boot. Heck, I’m fermenting beer right now in the shop. That’s a more reasonable skill to have.

How about something silly like owning one of these little brass things to semi legally fill green Coleman propane bottles from large white tanks?

Beers are not shelf stable neither is a number of home brewed wines.

So is marijuana but show me a 'where' it's illegal to make rum for your own consumption. There's no tax on your own consumption.
