I've not been on much, just been too busy. Joe and I have been busting azz all spring. Finally had some time this past weekend and got caught up on splitting what I've accumulated this past winter and spring. I've keep a lot of the locust, oak, and hickory that we've cut, it's amounted to around 16 cords....... Both of my son's and I have been stacking away......almost have the giant cache completed again....
Still better to be the King of fools, rather than the court jester. Seriously though, great stacks, and I hope all is well to the near south.
Nothing to be envious about, my neighbors all think I'm nuts!! But I'm 6 years ahead, so I feel happy about that. Almost that entire stack is red oak, white oak, pin oak, hickory, beech, honey locust, and black locust..... .all premium BTUs!
Most I've had in the shed was about 18cord. That was a darn good feeling. Life's been super busy so we haven't even come close to that the last two years. We'll get there again someday.
I would guess your better half is keeping you well fueled for the amount of work you are getting done. After this big push, you may not have to do anymore firewooding for the rest of the summer.
Well to be honest, I barely spit or stacked a single thing in 2018-19, which is nice to be able to do that......that's why I got so far ahead. On the flip side, alot of the wood that I'd been piling up next to the house for the past three years from jobs we did is starting to go bad. I'm picking the locust out of it and giving the rest to a buddy of mine who has an OWB. I just left this stuff still here in rounds too darned long and it's not the best stuff anymore. The locust, though, is still totally usable, so I'm saving that and putting it in the stacks. The 16 cord I've kept since fall all has been split and will be in the stacks and done in the next few days....
Awesome lookin stash! You and your sons made some quick business of stacking! At what point do you typically cover your stash and what do you typically use? Awesome pics
