Well, if those are yours, I reckon you could always make do! Might be a little too easy with one of those though.

Heard quite a few birds this morning, but nome I could get on and work. Did find another hunter though, we had a chat.

First season here is April 18. We had a few hunters coming from out of state this spring but with the virus, none coming now. I don't hunt the stupid things and wish we did not have them at all. When the state planted them all over they intended on making turkey hunters out of deer hunters and wanted to get rid of most if not all deer. It did not work. At first there were lots of guys really excited about it but after 3 or 4 years that novelty wore off quickly. Not that many hunt any more which means we have lots and lots and lots. Way too many. But, although they preach to shoot does, they want to only hunt toms and not hens. Somehow that does not make sense to me.

One thing that really rattles me is how they can tear up a new planting. Whenever I put out a food plot, I have to stand watch over the field for 4 days otherwise nothing comes up and this is no exaggerating a bit. The only other thing is if you are lucky and plant just ahead of a rain, then they won't scratch and all is well. Of course they stop scratching once the crop is up.

I didnt grow up turkey hunting, started in high school i guess, and really got into it after college. There werent many turkeys around when i was little, so there werent all that many turkey hunters. But bird numbers have really exploded, and now theres a ton of turkey hunters. Wish some of the ones here would quit! Backwoods Savage, if i were close enough, I would help you control the population!

At my age, common sense tells me to take the "lesser of two evils " road and sit tight. If I was 10 years younger I'd be moving farther into the bush !!!!!!!! Better the devil you know.

There is big difference in hunting deer and hunting the gobblers.

For sure. Here I can just walk out the door and shoot a gobbler (if the wife would let me. But she says anything within 100 yards of the house is safe. Any animal, that is. Trespassers are okay). But then, it would be just that easy to get a deer that way too but I don't. Still, I don't hunt very far from the house and have no problems getting deer. Here is last year's:

The lot this place was carved from was a 25 acre farm and behind it was a 95 acre wood lot.

Fortunately ticks are rare here. However, we've seen more in the last 2 years than in the last 20. Still only 3 or 4 last year.
