Hello Everyone, I just had to do this because many of us either did or did not see this Pandemic coming. I for one, have/had "most" essentials on hand for a couple months. I have enough Tuna fish and Spam for 5 years. But Add to this list things "you have seen" in your part of the world that has completely vaporized from existence like "toilet paper" and so on. Let's all make a note next to your key board with suggestions that God forbid "IF" this happens again, Were all Ready!!! Here's my first one, Surgical masks and rubbing alcohol. Make it a point to buy a little at a time and keep them on hand. Have enough for at least a 6 month duration, that's usually a safe time frame! :drunk: It'll be 2 cases per week now for me. ;) *EDIT* of my favorite Lite beverage...

I will stock up further on 2nd amendment supplies as well as more canned supplies.

I have to make a decision regarding my next (last) residence with regards to security and non-dependency on grid supplied utilities.

Along with these decisions, canned food/ dry goods and home grown foods will also be high on the priority list.

Most importantly, being tight lipped about such supplies is a requirement for the next time.

    Always.
Suggested to the wife that we should get a shipping container and bury it on the property somewhere. She was less than enthusiastic re: the idea.
Filled the truck with gas just because the price dropped by over a dollar/gallon. Might be cheaper today.

With this one the hand sanitizers alcohol and cleaners. We buy half a cow in November December every year. Goes us a full year. Have a good supply of canned food and wife hoards pasta. We haven’t really stocked up on much this time. Did buy pizza dough and put in freezer and half dozen frozen pizzas. We hunt and fish so there is that as well. On good years we have an abnormally large garden and we freeze tons of peas and green beans. Grow a lot of potatoes. Make lots of pickles. Last year the garden couldn’t be planted it was so wet. Buy a case of tp just to have.

Future "must have" list: TP, canned foods, frozen foods, drinks, and the normal everyday perishables, plenty of guns and ammo. :coffee:

Future "wish list": great governmental leaders who can make difficult decisions during a very dangerous time. :usa:

I'm not too hot on stocking up on froze foods. If you do, then what happens if our grid is attacked and there is no electric?

One thing we used to do but sadly have let it slip lately is to go to any farm where they grow white beans and buy 100 lb. Then go to a potato farmer if you can't grow your own and buy 100 lb sacks of taters but first make sure you have a place to put them.

Always make sure you have extra water on hand. Change it often so it is not stale. For example, even if you keep 4 or 5 gallons in a place where you might go if a tornado hits, keep that much around and switch it around every other week. For flushing toilets you can always go to a lake or creek or pond to get water for that. Also you can buy filters so you can drink from a creek if need be. Look at outdoor catalogs.

Freeze-dried foods are always a good thing to keep on hand as are thing like soap, alcohol, first aid supplies, toilet paper (don't forget that one), etc.

Aside from the TP, pasta was not stocked as well as I'd prefer.

I generally like to have at least a months supply of the essentials on hand for emergency purposes.

Do have some masks and nitrile gloves. Not as many masks as this outbreak might require though. So I make sure to stock up well when I do have to leave the property.

Almost complete in the reloading arena, just waiting on 9mm reload dies currently.

One of the reasons we purchased this property was for self sustainability.
I'd still like to have a stocked pond here, just not in the budget yet. Hunting is good here, and there are fishing opportunities within a half mile.
    :thumbs::thumbs:

Hopefully if/when this happens again, we will be better prepared.

If you don't believe it, put some away for a few weeks then drink it. This is why they sell distilled water but that is tasteless.

Nice thought.................not likely to happen because the number of "stupid voters" far outweigh the number of "common sense" voters. We have the same problem up here !!!!!!!!

When the dust settles on this one we are definitely gonna reassess our emergency inventory. I’ve put off buying a generator long enough.

Lots of great stockpile ideas! My feeling is, right now we are coasting on stocks of goods already warehoused. 2 or three months from now is when we see shortages of a lot of things.
A real problem could be farmworkers and meatpacking workers getting sick.
