Ive accumulated quite a bit of fresh splits at my friends from recent scores. Been able to get them split but been dragging my feet getting them stacked.
Got more pallets recently and decided to do some stacking. Rather than use pallets i opted to crib the ends. Lots of half round cherry splits made it easier. The stacks are in his front yard so he gets to look at my work!
First pic before i started and the mound of splits i stacked today. Pallets are 40x48 and set on 4x4 sleepers IMG_2182.JPG
I was pulling cherry splits from a different area for the front row and had to leave. Ill finish with more cherry and continue adding more pallets parallel. Stacks are 5'x10 so tight half cord in each row. IMG_2184.JPG IMG_2185.JPG IMG_2186.JPG
View from the back. Wood is red maple, ash, and cherry.

Have a bunch of rounds there to split as well. Ash, sugar maple and cherry. IMG_2183.JPG

Oh...nice looking stack. The cherry looks real nice crib'd like that.

Well done, even without a single 15 for 2.

    Beautiful work!

How tall is that stack? Then we can figure out the cordage;)

Multiple reasons for the sleepers. Keeps all the pallets bottoms on the same plane...level. Saves them from rot. Better air flow underneath. Props it a little higher to lessen bending fatigue. Also only two so when the pallets sag in the middle it pulls the stack inward so it wont tip (i hope).
I get cull lumber dirt cheap so i utilize it for the stacks.
