Where those legs were? Ha. I'd need to knock down some stones off the wall and build a ramp to get back there. I managed to css another few loads. The back row is almost filled. That's the ash/maple/apple mix I have. Sun came up and got too hot, plus the black flies have made their appearance. I think tomorrow it's back to the oak yard. It still needs some tidying up.
We'll... A little bit less NH. Tidied up the area. A peek around the corner. That's about a 12foot rack the rounds are on. They can stay there until next year. I can nibble away at them, if I need to fill out a rack. Now...over here.. ugh Now we're talking NH. That's the wood I was css'ing, the past few days.
I'm also using for the first time, one of the two free racks I picked up roadside, a couple months ago It's a 4ft rack. Those splits I moved from near my toolshed. I had 2 cart loads. That's one. There's an 8ft rack just in front of this 4ft. I'm pulling wood to burn from here. It'll be empty, in a week or three.
I split, moved, and stacked 4 cart loads this morning, ahead of showers and downpours later. Enjoying some homemade cranberry nut bread and coffee, at the moment.
This morning's effort, with tools of my trade. Sone cutting. Some noodling Some splitting Some bashing The ground is too soggy today. I'll move the lot over the weekend. Just a few uglies left to deal with. Then, on to the stack of logs.
I see the trademark Asplundh notches on the ends of those logs. Kind of a pain for us hand splitters. Do you cut them off? I do. After that, get them in half and you're done! You are certainly moving right along.
Some I cut off, some are left. I think most tree services cut like that. I'll also need to get out my leafblower, and move all the chips, back towards the stone wall that's there.
Nooooooo...... I've got maybe 2cords of red oak at my sil's, still in logs. Still a good problem to have.
There. Cleaned up for now. The leaf blower did the trick, moving the wood chips behind the edging. Some of those chunks I'll be using to lay the vertical logs on to cut to length. I'll try to cut with the chips flying toward the stone wall. The goal for now, is to cut enough to top off these non- buZZsaw BRAD stacks. But that won't happen for a few days.
