It's nice to see that area you paved and stacked the concrete blocks, is working out for you.

I don’t think so. I decided to just refill the lean to with dead ash, start burning 10/1 and burn the ash until holidays, then have the splitting party to refill with all oak so I can have full oak lean to by 1/1/21

At least that’s my new plan. Lean to at 60% now

Yes, have racked everything direct to lean to from 4 wheeler cart. I have put in about 40 cart loads so far. Maybe need 40 or so more to fill it

A lot of it can almost go from stump to stove!. More or less the same around here with the ash. Some i cut yesterday had the bark stay on when i split it this morning.

True. A lot of the dead ash is pretty much ready right away after being cut. Given a summer after split and stacked, and it's typically good to go even in an EPA stove.

If you typically split a few months before burning in the owb, that dead ash will probably be the best wood you've burnt.

That same poem says that elm won't make you warm, or something to that effect. I'd take dry elm over wet ash any day, if I needed to burn it that season.

Since about March 1st I have been cutting and throwing it in the same week, mostly of a size that doesn’t need split. There is just so much of it I have moved to that plan, does fine in OWB. And I’ll finish filling the lean to with it. That pile of wood is nearly all pin oak, and all pretty green and cut over the last year. It won’t hurt one bit to have it sit in that pile a year or two. So will keep building the pile with oak, some locust and the shed with ash
