Yes, lots of shooting around here over the weekend. Usually at this time of year there is not a lot but there is now. Better to hoard that ammo right now. I was considering getting out my bow though. Might do that this week depending on how I feel.

Going to have to do something with this long hair soon. I did order some clippers but the wrong thing came so we send it back and order another.

this is alongside of the highway where the sun hits it and has melted. Went back down there and got a little more done today. Now, I'll have to wait until the rest of the snow melts and finish along side the highway to finish up that spot. And wait for the yard to melt and then dry before I start the spring grounds keeping.

I must have ended up with a dozen wheelbarrow loads of gravel for my driveway!

    DAY 14

Finished raking along the highway at the cottage. Had to get out of the house here for awhile. Tomorrow, the rains starts. After that, it'll be a mess to rake up otherwise. Also, chance of more snow this week. YAY!

Going to have to make a food run this week; probably on Wed. Need some more fruits/veggies along with standard grocery items.

Our gov is really hitting the air waves lately-without really saying anything much...…(go figure!) She'll be giving two different speeches today. :picard:

    FHC site seems slow today...….

I’ve got my eye on a spruce the utility company dropped down by the mailbox a couple years back. Probably 15” diameter, maybe 30’ long. The downside is that it’s spruce. The upside is that is is on the ground, limbed, straight, not punky, and only about 800’ from the house.

Guess one can never have too much shoulder season wood. If I’m going to get it, I better get it before tick season starts.

99 lbs grabbed the pruning shears and bypass loppers and went to town on some spruce in the yard here about an hour ago. Now there's a pile of crap next to the OWB! The stove is burning so slowly now, I hate to load it up with that small branches and nuisance stuff. :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

When I went to get the mail tonight I saw a couple big oaks down in the lots west of me closest to the highway. Never really took a good inventory until today. Most of of the lots around me were sold in the 60s and 70s, never developed and people just pay the $125 or so per year in taxes on them. There are 14 lots on each of these roads, and 3 have houses on the road I live on.

One of these days I should dig around on the county tax record sites, find out who owns the lots and start a letter writing campaign asking if I can cut deadfall on their lots. I bet I could get 5 years worth of wood without being more than a 5 minute walk from the house.
