Did not cut or split any today just stacked. This rack is 30' long, wood stacked 4.5' high and is 2 rows deep. It holds a shade over 3.5 cord when full, the one in front will be the same size. Got about 5 cords so far, back to cutting some more tomorrow. All of this is White and Red Oak, with a few pieces of Cherry. May try and stack a little higher, worried about stability. Lol.
Nice looking stack & open location If each row of pallets will hold 4.5 cord & you have 5 cord, where is it ? Tie the 2 rows together with a limb or pole every few feet about 4' up, for stability Premium species, do you separate by type ? I hear red oak takes 3 years to dry .
I have some stacked in my wood shed, these are new stacks I am making. The Red Oak will burn this winter if I need it, been dead a long time, very dry. Each stack will hold 3.5 cords not 4.5, I think you misread my friend.
Your getting there man, it feels good when you get a stack like that filled , heck feels good when half done
Good looking stack - should stay put at only 4.5' tall. After they dry out, the stacks are not as high. This used to confuse me until someone explained that wet wood is fatter.
