The neighbor down the street took down a crab apple tree. He told me to come get the wood. There are allot of these trees in the neighborhood and I’ve gotten close to a cord the last few years. It burns real nice with two years seasoning. [IMG]

Nice to use dried chunks of that in a smoker.

Nice little convenient score. Never have scored that before. How does it hand split?
I was getting gas over the weekend, There was a guy in an older F250 filled with gnarly apple limbsmaybe 3-5" diameter. Of course i strike up a conversation. He worked for the orchard on the other side if Wallingford.

    Brad:
"44 cords" ! The full real cords ?
Enough space to stack all ? Even here with woodlands around here it'll be tough to find space for ~ 6000 cu ft of wood !

Brad: it can be tough to hand split, not as bad as hickory or elm. The two biggest rounds the X27 just bounced off so I got out the sledge and wedge. It is good wood though and worth it.

Give or take. Yup, full cords! Most gets sold....eventually Three separate yards where its stored. My main area at my landlords is probably 20. He cut me off as he didnt realize how "bad" my wood hoarding "problem" is. Five or so up here at the house we rent. Maybe 15-20 at my friends ten minutes from here. I havent taken inventory an a while.
I try to be a model hoarder and set a good example!

This is why I won't let buZZsaw BRAD talk to my wife, (he has offered in another thread), to ease her fears about my need to cut firewood. Her hair would stand on end!
