Just curious, or are people so blasted worried about how they'll wipe their butt next time? There are a lot of the ''forgotten one's'' out there. The people who are along in age, can't get around much or very well. Are wheelchair bound, or just plain afraid to go anyplace. Now, ''the brave'' one's are taking the advantage, of their youth or will take the advantage if this continues. But,wait, there's always some one stronger, younger, more aggressive, faster and those ''brave'' one's will be put down to another level. In the long run, there is only ONE real JUDGE. Weather we believe in GOD or not, You WILL be judged by him. There's a old saying, and it goes way back, WAY back, "You reap what you sow" So, why not call, visit, or just knock on a older person's door and at least ask how they are doing. No strings attached. I saw a pretty old guy walking on the sidewalk with a walker yesterday. No doubt he can't get to the store and compete with the younger ,more healthy crowd. Today i'll be looking for him, and i'm going to ask how he's doing, and see if he needs some help. I can take care of myself , i don't think he can. I've seen him for several months walking up and down the sidewalk with his walker.

So, one way or another if i can find him, and just talk to him to see how he's really doing, i blew my chance yesterday and spotted him, but, then i got to doing some thing else. Yup, today he's on my mind, i will find him, talk to him ask if he needs anything and go from there. I'm no angle, Florence Nightingale, or anyone like that, but i've seen this old guy a lot, and now's the time to catch up with him. this is a good forum, its time ''we'' stepped up and started looking out for these people, they just might NEED our help. No i'm not doing this to get accolades but, just to start some of you thinking about some one else instead of your next roll of TP. Hopefully i'll catch up with him today. This society of today is SO focused on themselves its pathetic. Just for once, especially now, try and help some one else a little bit, it just might ''light their fire'' give them a little glimmer of hope. You bet it bothers me to see this older guy like this, its past time to step up and start thinking of others.

Well, thanks, but, i'm just trying to get people to focus on some one else instead of thinking of themselves, helping a neighbor or another person, its time we get back to basics. Take care. How far are you from Christiansburg Va? I have a friend there.

We have always done this. And haven't made a big deal out of it.

Kinda like the pastor preaching to the choir sorta thing to post that on FHC?

Sold a cord of wood to a long time friend last year. He is in his 70's and had real bad arthritis. He contacted me today and asked if I had some firewood. He is just about out and needs about another months worth. We have had a bit of a mild Winter here, so the cord almost got him through, but not quite. Going to run some over to him today to get him through. Got a pile out there left from last year that is seasoned. Should get him through the end of the Winter. Gotta keep your friends going in these trying times.

Sorry, it just came to mind and i thought it was worth posting, not trying to make a big deal out of it. Trying to remind some who may or may not of thought about it. Myself included.

My parents check in every couple of days (they are in their 80's and live 1800 miles away). They are isolating themselves for their own safety.

I keep an eye on my neighbor across the street. He is mobile and I just make sure his car is leaving the yard everyday. If on any day it doesn't, I'll go over to check on him.

Another neighbor (not sure which street), is walking every day with a wheeled-walker. I've seen him for the last 3 weeks or so. My theory is that he is rehabbing because I see him regardless of the weather. He does a couple block lap, and does several of those. Most of the rest of my neighbors are a lot younger than I am and I don't really keep an eye out for them.

And I understand your intentions, sir.

I posted what I did in response knowing what type of people make up FHC for the most part. Certainly no need to apologize. :handshake:

Good news! I have been trying to find out about the older guy with the walker i spotted some time ago, I've been concerned about him. My daughter emailed me this morning and told me he's living with some really nice people and they take really good care of him.

Checked up on a couple of older folk today, but responsibly, by phone. Asked if they needed anything and if things get tight I'm there for them.
I will do as much as I can to help and without putting them in harms way. It is all we can do for each other.

    God bless you all.
